Jonathan Miles has joined Ryman North side Brentwood Town on loan for one month.
The goalkeeper played eight times for our Under-18s and six times in the NextGen Series in 2011-12.
It will take him out of the comfort zone of yoiuth football - and play for a team where the results matter, and maybe the opposition will sometimes be more physical playing against grown men rather than other youths, so it will be a different experience. But agreed the standard will not be higher. Hopefully Miles can use it as a stepping stone to a League 2 club next seasaon like Jordan Archer
I imagine its very hard to get young inexperienced keepers a loan spot in even league two, never mind above that. It's such a key position and there are lots of discarded players from the top teams that clubs can sign up who are more developed.
Archer went to Wycombe because they had an injury crisis, impressed and has stayed in goal. Miles needs to move up to 'emergency option' status, then impress when he gets the chance.
