Not surprised that they don't wanna sell. I can understand trying to get Woodgate, but Taylor in his 1st real season is not what we need:roll:

I was sure we had a Woodgate thread but apparently not.

Tottenham are interested in signing Jonathan Woodgate in the January transfer window (Daily Telegraph December 21)

Why we want another injury-ravaged CB I have no idea.

Well, he'd fill the spot Gardner is apparently going to vacate in the treatment room.

Boro have conceded almost as many goals as we have. How would any of their defenders improve matters?

You know, Big Tone, our occasional CB and LB.

No no, I sort of remember TG

I meant Woodgate or Huth?

Not that we've been linked with Huth or anything, I just sort of put his name forward (for the 2nd time this window I might add).

16 starts this season. I already checked.

out of a possible 24 games. no suspentions. out now with a hamstring but is most likely to be back for the next game.

so basically 2/3 of the games he's played. I think thats borderline ok to risk on someone of his quality.

I'm basically asking...

Is 25.3 games of Woodgate + 12.7 of Dawson over a 38 game league season better or worse than 38 games with Dawson?

i say it is better.

Huth has managed four more appearances than TG over the past season-and-a-half, which doesn't exactly fill me with confidence. It would be nice to sign a CB who is a) actually any good and b) might manage a season witout getting crocked.

King and Woodgate could probably manage a full season between them, taking it in turns to get crocked. Redknapp and Anderton did.

agreed with SS57 .. both of them are injury prone and we have enough here. "we have enough, and we have to change now" .. according to Gus Poyet.

This is true, but a tad desperate. It also means we'd be paying wages of c£100k per week (assuming £50k each) for ONE CB.

The flaw in this cunning plan would be if both Ledley & Woodgate got injured at the same time...

But I'm absolutely not dismissing the idea. Idlepete correctly states that Redknapp & Anderton did often manage to synchronize their injuries so that one was available to play.

The best four English CBs are King, Woodgate, Ferdinand and Terry, and all are very good. So, there is a lot to be said for having two of them on our books.

and imagine how solid we'd be when both were fit!

in fact whilst we're there imagine a back 4 of bale...king...woodgate...hutton,
there is a great deal of understanding there id have thought especially with language and knowledge of the british game.

But then, imagine King with a Woody.....

(not like that..)

The pair together would be formidable.

Once. Probably.

What have we learnt from Huttongate? Or rather, what have the other teams learnt from our Delboy shenanigans with the Gers.

Hold out, sit tight, and wait for DC to flex his chequebook. Knowing what we know, a team would be foolish to accept an initial offer from Spurs. Add in the fact that every newspaper and media outlet has styled us as some kind of desperate bunch of losers with money to burn, and it's not at all surprising.

If indeed, it's true at all.

SSN says we been knocked back for both Woodgate and Newcastles Steven Taylor. This still seems to me to be targets that Comolli would have selected rarther then Ramos? (if we can believe a word of whats reported on SSN of course)
