Just realised a thread was never started for what has turned out to be a very successful loan spell for 18 year old goalkeeper Jordan Archer at Conference side Bishops Stortford. Signed in August he has now made 23 appearances (up to 22 Feb)
http://www.bsfc.co.uk/team/first-team/1st-team-stats/ seemingly playing every match since signed, with 5 clean sheets.

Archer is pretty young in goalkeeping terms, and with this season under his belt, it may give him the opportunity to get League 2, League 1 and even Championship goalkeeping experience by about age 21, similar to David Button.

As an aside, Archer being away on loan allowed Jonathan Miles (who had been given a 3rd Year Academy slot rather than a pro contract after struggling to compete with Archer for game time) a run of games in the NextGen Series - and he took it with some style making Spurs joint lowest goal conceders of the 16 competing teams.

I guess one loan has given two players a boost !

Bishops Stortford are actually a league below what was the Conference, they are in the Blue Square North division.

For a goalkeeper though he is young, and its good he is getting competitive football. As you say still plenty of time for him to develop as a keeper and to get a loan in the higher divisions.

Is the conference not defined as Blue Square Premier, North and South? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Pretty much, there was a re-jig a few years back of the structure at that level, So its effectively Conference Premier and then the level below that is Conference North and South. Four get relegated from the Premier at the end of the season with the top two from the North and South divisions being promoted.

Been very good this season, and even though the team wasn't performing very well under Walker earlier in the season he still looked assured and kept us in many games. Now the team has started to play much better under the new manager and Archer has been a great asset for the side. Been a very good loan for both player and club and I am sure he will take a step up the divisions next season.

Bishops Stortford has now ended its season so Jordon Archer is returning to Spurs having had 37 appearances and 12 clean sheets and no 1 for them all season (although missing < 10 games through injuries and Scotland under 21 call ups).

IMO a very good season's work for him - he's only 19 a week ago and remembering goalkeepers generally mature later than ourfield players. Hopefully enough to get him a football league loan next season.
