Jordan Archer has joined Northampton Town on loan until January - http://spurs.to/N7NSOo pic.twitter.com/WTaEOyGAsz

Archer was on loan to Division 2 Wycombe where he seemed to do well - disapointed maybe to see he's back in the same division again

Best of luck to him though

It's only until Jan so I guess he could do well and some team in league higher up that needs a keeper for the rest of the season (i.e. due to an injury or something) could take him on loan for the rest of the season in January.

Anyway hope he does well.

I think the club has got stung with just trying to get players playing at the highest level. If Archer ended up at a league one side who sat deep and booted it upfield all the time, he's not really going to learn anything that will be useful should he make it at Spurs.

I think Northampton will be aiming for promotion, they are a big club at that level, so playing in front of decent crowds, playing out from the back, with relatively high expectation...could be a good move for him.

We need to be on the phone to Northampton and asking what is going on... They already have an established, experienced goalkeeper in Matt Duke so I don't really see why we would send him there in the first place. If they aren't going to play him then pull him out of there.

The Archer loan smacks of the monetising of youth players. Northampton would have paid a fee, they would have paid his wages, the club makes a profit on the player for the season, and his development is stunted for another year.

Very disappointing if that is the case, but I think it's an increasing habit amongst the leading teams who are stocking up their youth teams but also have a big first team squad. Chelsea are the main culprits in this, and I guess from a business point of view it makes sense. Just a shame for the individuals

He needs to work hard and to force Duke out of the team. This is the sort of challenge that he will be facing all of his career as a goalkeeper.

Northampton lost to league leaders Bournemouth (who included former Spur Adam Smith) 3-0 but Archer seems to be getting a lot of praise. Lets see what happens for the next couple of league matches (nb this was a Capital One Cup match)
