I'm glad we've been linked - I'd completely forgotten about Geordie Jeans!

About to sign for City.

I know we had no chance but their spending is relentless.
One does have to admire their early transfer business. I know it’s easy when you have large sums of money to play with and this transfer is not yet confirmed, but it does seem they manage to get most of their deals done early. Must massively help the coaching staff.

I also think last summer it let them set some of the market price points and then bow out of the window before the Gylfi, Neymar, Coutinho, VVD, price inflation desperation circus happened. I doubt we will be off from the start but I'd like to at least see us moving before other teams get desperate.

I don't think it's admirable at all!! They can meet the player's demands without any fuss, so there's nothing to admire about the transfer business of a club that has unlimited funds!!

mate they have unlimited spending, it doesnt take much admiring when you can offer club and player whatever they want

Envy, rather than admire. Anyone can get deals done quickly with unlimited transfer funds.

As i said, I know its easy when you have large sums of money. But even so, they still didnt spend as much as Liverpool did on a single player. Their first deal last summer (i think) was Silva who they bought for about 43 mil. Really, considering his talent and the current market/market last summer, that actually isnt that much. I know they buy on a whim but really, the money they spend on individual players isn't actually that inflated. Also, from the football leaks floating around at the moment, it seems Liverpool and Utd pay more then City do contract wise. Yes they are financially on another plant to us, but even if you compare to the other mega clubs, the likes of PSG, RM etc City still sort out thier transfer early.

Im not really expecting us to get our business done in the first few weeks, but often we have brought in players close to the season kicking off and i think that has been hugely detrimental to the beginning of our season and the the players settling into the team and tactics.

I agree, our policy of obsessively penny pinching is detrimental to how we start the season, and I think it's clear that Poch agrees as well.

As for City, it's the wages they pay as much as anything else. They pay what the club wants, and they pay the player and his agents what they want.

They're also slightly different to the likes of PSG and Madrid in that they identify players on talent rather than profile or marketability. That's one area where I will begrudgingly give them credit (even if it is easier to identify the best players when you can afford to pay the best DOFs, technical directors, scouts, coaches etc).

Disgusting Man City just being allowed to throw money about again in this way.

Where’s the fair play??

Always been the same. The teams with the most money buy the top players. I remember the days when we were always pushing the transfer record fees ourselves and you know what I never complained so I doubt citeh supporters will lose any sleep over inequality

He plays better in a CM 3 so not sure it's the right move for us unless we change tactics anyway; which I think we should do btw with our current players.
Everyone seems to think just about every single midfielder on the planet is better in a CM 3.

It isn't so much about the transfer fees as the wages they offer. They can bring in a player and offer 200k per week without batting an eyelid because everybody is on massive wages there. If we offered a player those wages to sign on the queue outside Levy's office door would go half way down Seven Sisters Road.

Isn't Sarri rumoured to be Conte's replacement at Chelsea, if/when he finally gets sacked.

I would imagine that Darrin would convince Jorginho to join him at Chelsea. I couldnt see a new coach being happy with Bakayoko in CM after his performances last season.

Would give Chelsea a very solid midfield and unfortunately, seems more likely than him joining us.
