There's a difference, last year for example I never bought into the furore over Everton. I could tell their signings had no real plan. That was pure transfer jealousy blinding people.

However Liverpool have gone from no DM (a key weakness) to signing one of the highest regarded in Europe. They've also added one of the highest regarded young CMs in Keita (RM are rumoured to have bid for him before he's even kicked a ball for them!). They are a threat, especially if they get a proper GK.

I do actually realise, post Chelsea game blip aside, we were the form team for most of 2018, and took 4 points off of them, but I personally believe we are very evenly matched.

I hate Liverpool and their constant media love ins but they have progressed, it's clear to see. Even more of a concern is that they've always been clearly flawed but are actually starting to solve those flaws. I hope Salah ends up being a one hit wonder though!

Us finishing above them last season is similar to when Arsenal pipped us on the last day 3 seasons ago, they probably laughed our progress off too...

What I will say however is I think we were a bit off colour for large parts of the season (whereas they hit their heights more often) and think we could surprise a few people in our new home, if we have a good window.

I am trying not to make this Tottenham Vs Liverpool I will agree there isn't much between the clubs currently squad wise but I still feel we have a better squad/team. Last Season CL we had a much more difficult passage than Liverpool we also had to deal with Wembley the lose of Walker Rose Wanyama Toby Lamela.

I'm not down playing Liverpool, they've done pretty well getting to the final and qualifying for CL again playing counter attacking football, however I much prefer our style of play in its totality possession press fluid interchangeable football. If/When Poch gets the players he wants our style of football is more dominate success will come not on dominance tho but with efficiency / clinical finishing

Apparently Thiago at BM is up for sale. I know he has injury issues but he's a fantastic CM and would be excellent for us. Would much rather him then Jorginho or Fabhino. He also fits with Hercs German itk. Probably won't be him but that's the calibre of CM we should be after.

Saying Man City have more pull than us at the moment is simply stating facts, it isn't negativity.

your correct they do have more pulling than us, but there are 5 clubs that either have more money than us, or a better history, or can and have been paying more wages than us, and looking at your views in the few threads I've followed none of those players will be joining, because of "this or that" reason

Just mentioned this in the general transfers thread. Apparently wants to leave too. I hope we want him.

Not really surprising considering I've mainly posted in the Bale and Savic threads. I haven't said we don't have a chance at Jorginho or that he won't join us, all I said was City was more likely and just because they get a player on a wage, doesn't mean we can. I'm a realist. No idea why you're bothered by that.

the thing is we just offered Toby a wage of 120k a week from 50k, there was news that 2 players will be getting 200k contracts soon, which means our wage structure is changing. yes playing for City means you've more chance of a trophy, but you might have less chance of playing due to the squad size/strength.

not everyone in the world, Bale included might not put money ahead of happiness. if Bales career finished tomorrow, he and his family most probably won't have to work for the rest of their lives

Sure. I never said he'd rather go to City or that he'd only be interested in money. You seem to be arguing against something I haven't said.

no what I'm saying is perhaps we are now entering a world where perhaps we will compete with teams for transfers, because Man City's wages only go through the roof for special players, the same with Man u

Could he handle PL and our high tempo style? Honest question if he has injury /fitness issues (ala Dembele).

Weird this thread is still open TBH as thought he was pretty much nailed on for City now?

I believe so, he had one bad injury last season were he missed a bunch of games but that was a one off. Aside from that he missed the odd game here and there. It is true hes susceptible to the odd knock but hes not in Dembeles realm of injury issues. He's 27 so is in his peak and hes a very energetic player. Beyond that he is a world class talent, and would work well in our system i think. Chances to get a player of his caliber don't come around very often but im sure all the big boys will be after him. I would have thought he would go to CIty (less likely now) or back to Barca tho.

by the way I actually believe he will sign for City, though being totally honest I don't know anything about him, but I've only seen reports for him heading in their direction

If City don’t want to pay for this guy, why aren’t we looking more closely?

My understanding is that £45M is in the locker... and plays in an area we’ll definitely need quality.

Would’ve hoped there’d been a bit more noise around this.

Man City will pay for this guy, they are just negotiating. As soon as we have a bid accepted the will just come in match our bid and offer more wages. It will be s pointless excercise for us.

Weren't we urged to be bold in the transfermarket by our manager? Perfect chance to show everyone we mean business...

Wait. What?

Man City have been priced out...therefore we should move in. Lol wut. How does that make any sense? If City can’t afford it we sure as fuck can’t.

We could just fuck with them and stick an over the top price in, but one we think they will still match. Make them spend another 10 or so million for a player we were not going to get would be amusing to me ( even if it won't hurt their bank)
