Jorginho is set to become the subject of a top-six battle this summer, with Napoli willing to sell the midfielder for around £53million.

Premier League champions Manchester City are believed to be frontrunners for the Italy international after keeping tabs on him all season.

Arsenal, Tottenham and Manchester United have also watched Jorginho extensively, with the player's representatives sounded out by all of them.

Never heard of him, he sounds like a pair of fake jeans you could buy down the pub

The Times are reporting similar, and also saying that Jorginho expects to move to England this summer...

Bit like Milinkovic-Savic, we have very little chance which is a shame. Whilst we're on the subject of missing out, Its all but certain hes off to Manchester, but we definitely should've been in for Fred from Shakhtar.

Call me defeatist but I'm not expecting to win any top-six battles when it comes to signing players...we'll get blown out of the water with both fees and wages unfortunately.

I’ve never seen him play, anyone shed any light other than a YouTube video, cos even I can look good on those.

There's only 5 other pl teams that can potentially compete with us for centre mids. If city get Fred, utd get this bloke, Liverpool have keita coming, it's down to Chelsea arse and us. Savic et al still to move.

There's alot of good CMs going around , we will get someone good surely

To play as Napoli do, you need an unflappable signal-controller such as Jorginho.
The Italy international's ability to dictate games from a deep-lying central-midfield role has the rest of Europe fawning.

His reputation is so high that former Italy manager Gian Piero Ventura was harangued into parachuting him in for an Azzurri debut at the death to try to save their flailing World Cup qualifying campaign.

Players who are so efficient in the one-touch passing game are truly rare, making Jorginho the equivalent of gold dust for Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri.

He's been coached well, but the fact remains there aren't many who possess his blend of skills. Napoli's insane buildup passages from deep are at least partially instructed by Jorginho, who utilises wall passes and flicks to blitz man-marking schemes in the middle.

His clipped through balls are also a true delight, creating clear-cut chances every game.

Perfect for Spurs :cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry:

Jorginho would be a phenomenal signing. He'd walk straight into our starting XI. Anybody know if we're still considering putting Wanyama in the shop window? If so, (and presumably we get around the 50m Vic's being quoted for) Jorginho would be his ideal replacement. Jorginho can play both CM and DM but IMO his best position is when he's anchoring the midfield at DM. I wonder where Poch & co would see him playing at. He'd be great competition for Dier and I believe he's the kind technical defensive midfield we need to link up play and be more creative. I am skeptical of giving big Vic away though, I really hope he can bounce back and hit the heights he did last season.

Midfield of Jorginho and either Kovacic/Diawara/Ndombele/Aouar would be electric.

Hes the midfielder out of all the others mentioned so far that would make us tick and get us on the attack much faster before teams have had a chance to get set with there 8 men behind the ball which we come up against week in week out.
If you watch some of his videos you can see how much space the attackers have where he has played them in early and can run into space, with moura coming in next year his pace can really exploit teams

Lets hope some of the rumours are true

Yes please. A pivot in the team and someone who could give us the balance that a player like Carrick did. I always hoped that Hudd could have done this but he was never up to it - just not mobile enough. Funnily enough he likes to get the ball through early much like Shelvey, but is better (I hope!)
