we know why we're currently not getting either of them.

Yes but thats the type and quality we should be buying

No point in settling for the likes of King...have we not learn't our lesson with the duds we have bought recently.

I would sooner give the kids a chance than buy ordinary players that will not really challenge our first 11.

how revelatory. You could do with backing up your opinions with a bit of substance, Dave...
Do you go to games, and if so start calling everyone shit from the kick off?

Ok, he's not awful, but he's no better than Sam Vokes or Stefano Okaka. He is a lower level PL striker, nothing more. He's not someone you really worry about and I would say Son is a far better CF than him. We need to sign players that threaten our starting 11. He would not, not even close and I think now that we are rumoured to be looking at him people are seeing things that aren't there. If we weren't linked with him in the press, I don't think anyone would be lauding his merits as a potential signing for us. He is nowhere near the standard we should be looking for.

The odd thing here is the negativity over King who scored 16 PL goals last year, versus the love for Balde who scored the same amount of goals in Serie A.
I'm not advocating either way, but it's just an odd situation.

Because the actual number of goals doesn't tell you much. People aren't saying to sign Balde BECAUSE he scored 16 goals, they like him because of the skills and attributes the perceive him to possess.

Hmm watched him yesterday

Carried the ball very well, on the other hand seems very, very greedy and didn't show much spatial awareness....I am sure we already have those qualities available amongst our 2nd choice players lol

I get that, and am happy the Club has been pursuing Balde as a better option than King. But ITK says his ship has sailed. I'd rather bring King in and sell Janssen, than leave it as it is. But the Transfewr Committee brought Janssen in, so it would be an admission of guilt on their part if they get rid after just one poor season. So I think they might give him another year.

In short, if Janssen plays in the early rounds of the domestic cups instead of Kane, and we get a tricky draw, we'll be out...

a good read, thanks. Think he showed last year in performances as well as goals he's better than those two and their ilk though. I'd take Origi, and more so Sturridge, before him though. Liverpool seem to have one too many striker on their books for the formation they play...

This probably won't go down well, and I've made the point before, but I still don't get how Keita is apparently ready to start for us against Real Madrid, whilst Josh King is the same level as Vokes and Okaka (let's ignore the fact neither of them have got near his PL goal tally last season). They scored the same amount of goals last season, with half of Keita's goals being even more concentrated in one period of the season than King's. Keita does create more chances, but King completes far more dribbles and is more successful with his take-ons. He also wins far more tackles and intercepts the ball much more than Keita, indicating he's a good fit for our system.

I'm not saying King is better than Keita, and the latter will be a far superior player in the future, but at the moment, I don't think it is justified for some people to say that, on a basic level, Keita is amazing and King is average/shit.

Thumbs up from Sam Allardici for that one.

I remember the negativity on here when we signed Scott Parker, who turned out to be key for us for a couple of years. As a rule, we overrate foreign players we've never seen compared to other clubs' players in the Prem.

Josh King will not push us onto the next level. All our competitors have made decent upgrades this summer. This guy won't create a competitive starting XI let alone strengthen our bench options. If he was 18 or 19, I'd get the logic to bring him in and develop him, but he's in his mid 20s and has had half a decent season. Just this seasons Sissoko but without another club vying for his signature

Hypothetically, it's, say 10.30pm on deadline day and all other striker/forward options are dead in the water but Josh King is available, Bournemouth's director if football is standing by the fax machine and Levy's finger is poised on the 'dial button' of his fax machine with a contract inserted. @doctor stefan Freud do you tell Levy to hit that button or do you tell him to back away slowly from the machine and keep his powder dry for a possible foray into January's notoriously difficult window?

I tell Levy to go and fuck that fax machine until it 3D shapes into Martial

I really believe Josh would be a great signing. Just hope his asking price has come down.

Would still need a pacey attacker to compliment IMO.
