That's not always a bad thing. As long as he can force his way into a team and play well and get experience, I don't mind if there's bad shit happening to that team. It's good for a young player to experience adversity and to see what it's like when the world isn't a bed of roses.

Maybe. It just seems that for a young player with a languid style like Onomah, going to a team playing below expectations where the fans are already on the team's back wouldn't be a great move as he'd likely be an easy target for vitriol.

Sadly, he's going to get that at White Hart Lane any time he misplaces a pass. So if he's going to make it at Spurs, he's going to need to learn to deal with a bit of vitriol I'm afraid.

Think it's ideal, he needs to toughen up mentally and learn to deal with the pressure to perform as a professional. Being put into a tough spot with hull can teach him some invaluable lessons.
The former spurs boys should take good care of him and if he gets the minutes, it'll be a great experience.

would like to see him go out on loan and get some playing time

I think this is the logical step surely? Poch seems to have some reluctance regarding JO and letting him go out but providing it's the right team with the right aspirations and style, surely him getting some competitive minutes should be a priority, then hopefully next year he'll be better positioned to feature like Winks has done this year.

I'm desperate for him to do well and I know it's hard to play in not your preferred position but every time I see him he looks slow, clumsy and ponderous. Hope it's merely nerves?

Feel sorry for the kid.
Obviously needs game time but Poch must rate him to want him around.
Hard call but if not careful it will all have passed by before gets a chance which to be honest he hasnt really had with us yet. Few minutes here and there not enough time to really leave a mark particularly if not playing in your best position.

Depends on the team, though. Obviously the loan has to be the right fit - but I would like to see how he responds to some real pressure.

I think any game time he gets will be pressure, there's no places he's going to play (team, division) where they and he won't be under pressure to get a result, every manager of every team everywhere is under pressure to get results.

If Poch is going to take the view that just getting game time is important for him and we find him somewhere he'll get that then I guess where he goes could be irrelevant, but I worry that he's a very specific type of player and even if he goes off somewhere and they give him games but ends up getting played out of position, not being able to show his best it will possibly do more harm than good in terms of improving his chances of succeeding.

Haven't seen enough of him to make a real educated judgement so unfair to write him off. Looked a cut above in the youth team but looked scared and below par in the Liverpool game. The problem is that Alli has set the benchmark now for young players and unless Onomah is scoring 10 a season he will be seen as not good enough

I'm still a bit bemused by why he didn't get to play centrally when he came on against Villa.

I understand why we didn't start with JO and HW in the middle of the park, but he just hasn't had a chance to show the fans his natural game as he's always stuck out wide, which isn't his position.

Poch tends to not want our blue chip youngsters to go out on loan, instead he likes to keep them in and around the first team. Having said that, if he's going to see the same amount of game time that he has in the first half of the season then he really needs to be given the chance to play first team football on loan.

Nonsense, just look how well Winks is doing coming in and playing his role well without trying to overplay his hand. That'll be the same expectation for Onomah, he just needs the same chance in the midfield.. which will come.
