So huddersfield, Brighton and Burnley all enquired but Poch said no

I just read that as well very strange. Surely be better for him to be playing and getting Premier league experience rather than in the championship

Maybe it's only a short term loan at Villa or we have some guarantees he will be playing week in week our. Also with Premier league loans isn't there a rule which says we can't recall players early from loan spells?

Probably a combination of all that.

I suspect there's more chance of him breaking into the Villa team than a Premiership team, and I think you're right about the issues with loans between premiership clubs.

I personally think it would be a good move for but would have preferred Celtic.

A manager who plays expressive football in front of large crowds.

Championship is a better standard that Scottish Prem, perversely it will probably do him well to be around John the c terry.

Massive fan of this as long as we've thought it through well and he will play. He's spent more than enough time training with our players, by a country mile now the most important thing for him is competitive games, being central in a team, taking responsibility, and going through a full season having played a high volume of football.

I can't see him being released without assurances from Villa that he'll be played.

It is but he would have had Champion's League football too and play under the pressure of expecting to win.

Playing a similar brand to us would have been beneficial as well. I don't think a Steve Bruce team has ever been an expressive footballing team.

We all hate JT and rightly so. But there is no doubting his footballing ability and his approach. It could be the best thing JT wqill ever do for Spurs.

I think your spot on about terry. As a player and captain i would imagine it's quite inspirational playing with him, especially for a young player. If onomah does well and terry is praising him it will do wonders for him imo

I'm very uneasy about a thread mentioning John Terry and not slating him with every word.

Until he racially abuses him and sleeps with his missus. Leaving him a shell of the player he was.

Seems odd, Brighton play a good style of football far more akin to Pochettino's style than Steve Bruce will ever be and their midfield is wank. Onomah would be streets ahead their best central midfielder if he'd gone there.

But then it's also odd as it was only a couple of weeks ago that Pochettino was saying Onomah (along with Carter-Vickers and Walker-Paters) would be more involved with the first team this season. The only way this makes sense is if we're imminently announcing the signing of a central midfielder because with Dier mostly being used in defence we basically have Dembele (who recently said he'll never be at 100% fitness again), Wanyama and Winks.

The most important thing is minutes for Josh and they are probably more guaranteed at Villa than the other options.

I agree with almost every word of this, however how often has poch played him in the deeper two? There really is no evidence that, despite his U20 performances, poch had any plans to play him CM...TOB got more minutes there in pre season I think.

Could be Josh wanting to play more as well.
