Is John Terry really going to aid in Josh's development knowing he'd be helping a Spurs player?

He's the captain isn't he? He will have a big influence around the team.

So you think he's going to give rousing team speeches but tell Onomah he's not allowed to listen?

I'm fairly certain it won't be an issue.

My bigger concern is that Bruce isn't exactly known for his flowing football sides. Hope Onomah doesn't end up spending most of his time watching the ball go over his head.

I think footballing wise Josh hasn't a problem, he has been educated well enough, on the positive... playing in a pressure cooker atmosphere that is Villa park could be the absolute making of him like it was with Danny Rose at the stadium of light.

Hoping this pays off.

We all hate JT and rightly so. But there is no doubting his footballing ability and his approach. It could be the best thing JT wqill ever do for Spurs.

There is, actually. He's always been made to look better by having more accomplished defenders around him like Carvalho at Chelsea, Rio Ferdinand for England. The media love him though, so will never have a bad word said about England's Brave John Terry.

Bravely bold John Terry
Rode forth from Villa Park.
He was not afraid to die,
Oh brave John Terry.
He was not at all afraid
To be killed in nasty ways.
Brave, brave, brave, brave
John Terry.

He was not in the least bit scared
To be mashed into a pulp.
Or to have his eyes gouged out,
And his elbows broken.
To have his kneecaps split
And his body burned away,
And his limbs all hacked and mangled
Brave John Terry.

His head smashed in
And his heart cut out
And his liver removed
And his bowls unplugged
And his nostrils raped
And his bottom burnt off
And his penis...

Onomah isn't a small player. He seems quite athletic but when I seen him play be never uses his strength or bosses players off the ball. Playing in the championship could be the making of him to put himself about during games and learn how to play.

Yep he is a pretty good player but he is about 1/10th as good as the media make him out to be. One of the best defenders England have ever produced? Is he heck.

This isn't really true. In youth football Onomah uses his body to hold onto the ball all the time.

Just a theory, with us rejecting PL clubs, could it be because Poch has said that he must be played as an AM?

Would be interesting to see where Bruce plays him. Either way he needs the experience as does KWP and CCV.

Also it says season long, but if he does excel then surely he will be moved to a PL team in January.

Bruce isn't a long ball merchant either. I've always liked his teams (except that sunderland squad) and has always allowed space for more flair players to shine in his teams like Huddlestone, Snodgrass, Sessegnon and Fugueroa amongst others, he even had a crack at getting Mido working.

Ultimately he likes balanced hard working teams, with controlled flair in sections. I don't think 'watching the ball go over his head' will be an issue, Aston villa will most likely be in the front foot most the time and Bruce is not a long ball merchant but likes to get attacking players on the ball, and build play from the fullbacks in a 3-4-3 formation ish.

I imagine in a situation like this Poch would have spoken to Steve Bruce and possibly other managers directly so if he did choose Aston Villa he must have liked what he heard.

I have to say I don't remember this from the Bruce teams I've seen but you are clearly in the very large group of people who are much better informed than me so I bow to your superior knowledge.

I agree Steve Bruce is not a long ball merchant. He's s decent manager who sets up his team tactically well and likes them to put a shift in. There are a lot worse clubs and managers he could playing at

Definitely agree with this. For instance, his Wigan side was a good little team to watch ( Figueroa, Rodallega, Palacios et al ) and a damn sight better as an overall football team than Roberto Martinez's version.

Josh finally got his chance to horn his skill as a Box to box CM. With the grueling fixture in championship, it will be a big test on his physics as well as mentality. 3 yrs of Poch training will showcase how Josh add to a crap Aston villa side with some Poch philosophy.

The high press, using body to defend the ball, the quick release of the ball to wide man and the immediate transition from defends to attack and vice versa. I really hope he light up the league and come back much stronger.

His U23 WC performance shows he is capable of it and I have faith in him turning the tide. He needs to put 150% in this year to have a shot at the title with us in the new stadium.

Good luck Josh, we have faith in you. Remember the philosophy and don't let the rubbish players affect u. Cheers
