Would really like to see him establish himself, we’ve long been told of his promise and how he would be a good successor for Dembele.

He does offer something different from our other midfielders (and could also potentially partner Winks as they both offer different things but both have good passing range).

i still think Bentaleb is a quality player. he was just ill suited to play the role Pochettino asked him to play for the season he and Mason started most of our games as our two midfielders.

if anyone was going to take over from Dembele long term, it should have been Bentaleb. but as good as he is, his attitude is his biggest problem.

as for Onomah, i still firmly believe he is good enough to play for Tottenham. he reminds me too much of Michael Carrick for me to sell him.

Big fan of Bentaleb but his entourage are destroying what should be a great career.

I hope that Onomah has opportunities to play some matches in Mousa Dembele's role.

Get him back, give him a good preseason with a few games in central midfield and see how he does. He should have his chance to do that with injuries and players away at the World Cup needing rest on their return.

If he doesn’t get that chance, then I think we can finally put to bed him ever getting a chance in that position under Poch I’m afraid.

Also give him instruction to pump some iron in the off-season to build upper body strength.

He looked considerably bigger when I saw him training in preseason in Orlando tbf

Then someone has to teach him the art of leaning on his opponents so that he doesn't get barged off the ball, much like Lamela has done since his early days with us.

Tbh he held his own during the open training session I saw (mugged off Dele a couple times, although Mousa Dembele made everyone look like toddlers). Haven't seen much of him with Villa so can't comment about how he's coped with the physicality this season.

The few times I witnessed Onomah playing this season, I wasn't overly impressed.

He seemed to run around alot but not really achieve anything of any great note.

That's not me saying he isn't/won't be good enough, as stated limited time watching his game, I'll reserve judgement a while longer, but nothing outstanding as of yet for me.

Appreciate and respect your comments. Same was said about HK in his various loan spells. All about the management.

I feel like people forget how highly rated Onomah was, coming through our academy - he could still be a top player.

Quite the opposite. The only reason people want to give him a chance to prove himself is because he is/was highly rated.

Oh yes, for sure. Like I said limited games watching him, and I'm not writing him off yet.

I hope he does make it with Spurs.

Can't judge him for Villa this season. Not enough regular game time in any single position.

Plus Bruce's style of football hardly helps. Villa was a good loan in terms of off the pitch aspects but was a mistake if Josh wanted to develop on it.

I know it wasn't your point, but trust me, @cider spurs is more than aware of what people used to say about young Mr Kane.

In the past, we each spent many an hour arguing with 'experts' that were constantly proclaiming "Kane will never make it as a PL player, let alone at THFC who aspire to play in the CL", or "He's not good enough & never will be" after I'd submitted article after article about how the young "Not even good enough for Leicester" is a star in the making.

You have no idea how smugly I sit back in my chair each time Kane finds the back of the net :joyful:

I don't understand the clamour for him. Never seen him do anything for spurs, perhaps he has played out of position, but now he struggles to get into a championship team where he has done very little. Can't see how he can make the jump to be better than winks or a dembele relacement.

Because he was one of the better youth prospects the club has produced in recent years

Some fans don’t deserve our promising youth prospects. If all we do is kill them. I remember the very days of HK. Boy did he not get stick!!!
