Looks like the log game is paying off at the moment. Optimistic to think Dier won't feature at CB this year though. He will play where needed if short in defence he will play over Foyth. Poch never pressures new players and Foyth won't be different.

The full quotes from El Dia, Juan confirming his leaving

“I liked what he said” – Juan Foyth confirms Tottenham transfer, and Poch being behind it

Juan Foyth is not a mythical creature, linked with Tottenham Hotspur for much of the summer only to disappear and never be heard of again.

The 19 year old is an excellent young central defender who is now so close to signing for Spurs that he’s been happy to confirm it himself.

Naturally, Foyth has spoken to Argentine newspaper El Dia, who have by far been the best informed on the chase, leading from beginning to end.

Under a headline saying “I chose Tottenham because they bet on the young”, there’s a series of quotes from Foyth which will please Spurs fans and bring some Bank Holiday cheer after a disappointing draw with Burnley.

The young defender explained: “It’s a club that bets on the young and I think I’m going to have a chance to play. I also spoke with Mauricio Pochettino and I liked what he said. It’s what helped me decide that Tottenham was the right place to continue my career.

“He told me to go, train and that I would be involved and I would play. He also told me what the club is like.”

Tottenham’s recent Champions League draw is also welcomed, with Foyth relishing the tough matches: “It’s a beautiful. Those teams are very nice to play, but at first, I think about being able to settle there fast and catch up.”

Underlining his level, Foyth was recently called in for a meeting by Jorge Sampaoli, who considers the player on the edge of the Argentina squad. That will be something Foyth obviously wants to chase down whilst with Spurs: “The greatest dream of every footballer is to play in the Argentine national team. But I don’t want to think about that now, but to settle at Tottenham.”

Now this is something I like reading.

Pointless signing for me.
Oh come on. Watching SC fall head over heels with some kid they dont know the first thing about whose played a less than minuscule amount of first team football in Argentina has been hysterical. Especially those that are convinced hes a first team signing and not an academy one.

Its important to continue to boost the academy to push our young players to try to reach another level Thats the point of this signing for me.

If Wimmer's off and CCV has already gone then I'm not sure how anyone can deduce this must be an academy signing...

He's coming for the first team, not the academy. He wouldn't have come if it was the other way.

Obviously I have never seen this lad play however if he is a ball playing central defender then he is more than welcome in our squad. Assuming we sell Wimmer then he will be a valuable option to have in the squad especially since we appear to be moving to 3 at the back. Poch obviously rates him highly.

How ready do you believe he is for 1st team football? I just can't see how we can fit Jan, Toby, Sanchez & Foyth in the same team. I'm guessing Sanchez & Foyth may rotate but I have no idea.
