The good thing is he seems to be a left centre back while CCV a right centre back if I'm not mistaken. I think Wimmer prefers right centre back. Sanchez right centre back. So we have Vertonghen and Foyth right centre back and Alderweireld, Davis and CCV right centre back so overall a better balance. Altough I can see CCV going out on loan.

Sets us up nicely for the future though.

He's a RCB. Can play LCB too

The fact that PSG wanted Foyth is a very good sign. Their scouting system is very good. It'll be interesting to see how Foyth will settle, especially with language as an obstacle. I'd like to see him paired with Sanchez for the League Cup match, as it is important that a CB pairing be able to communicate effectively with one another.

On a side note, I wonder if Veron sold Pochettino on Foyth. One thing many people expected when we brought Poch on was more South American signings. I think this is the first one directly from a South American club during Pochettino's tenure. Smart business for a cheap fee in this market.

watching his U20 WC games he was so good on the ball, wonder if he will ever be played as a DM

I think we have too many midfielders for him to play there.

He knows how to play there though. He said on one of his first interviews that he started as an AM, then DM and lately as a CB. The coaches moved him backwards because of his height

He hasn't been assigned a squad number as far as I can tell. Wonder if that means he won't be first team this season.

that doesn't surprise me, after seeing how good he was with the ball at his feet.

Seems likely to slot directly into CCV's spot on the roster. He'll be the 4th CB - behind Alderweireld, Vertonghen and Sanchez.

I expect he'll get his shot playing in the League Cup matches first, and then go from there.

I would not think the team would announce the deal (or that he would come here) if he was not going to be with the first team this year.

Not looking good for CCV is it

CCV is primarily a defensive minded CB, whereas Foyth is a ball playing CB.

I'm glad CCV has got a loan to the Champiionship and an extended contract with Spurs. If he plays regularly, he'll come back a much stronger player and one to whom Poch will be more ready to give first team minutes.

It's down to CCV now to show what a good player he is.

Like his OS interview, he seems to have exactly the right attitude. Also like that he is confident calling himself fast, he wouldn't do that if it wasn't true, so in him and Davinson we have two fast young South American centre backs to learn the nuances of their job from the Belgians while playing understudy.

I'm very aroused...

I'm very excited about us developing good links in Argentina tbh. Could bode well for the future.

Btw, this was finally done for 9m euros. Less that was reported at the end. So I'm going to say all that talk about us improving our offer was fake, and that the offer from PSG never existed. Veron got Levy'd

Not sure I would say that. The two CB signings do two things. One it gives us the opportunity to use Dier as a DM again and two it provides us with options if Toby goes.

love the south american connection, if we can prove to be a good landing point for Argentine's, I'm sure we'll pick up some very exciting young attacking options over the next few years on the cheap.
