    J
UANDE RAMOS believes he was sacked after some of his players stuck the knife in.

The Spaniard insists at least three of his underperforming ‘stars’ said he had lost the dressing room before his Tottenham exit on Saturday night.

    Ramos also claimed
he had NO say whatsoever in player transfers at White Hart Lane. And the former Sevilla coach says the club failed to get him three key summer signings he identified.

But incredibly Ramos is in line for an immediate return to management — at under-fire Spanish outfit Atletico Madrid.

Ramos — who was replaced by Harry Redknapp — is poised to take command at the La Liga club. Atletico, eighth in the table, are ready to call time on Javier Aguirre’s troubled reign and have been keeping tabs on Ramos’ situation in North London.

The Spanish club did battle back from 4-2 down to draw 4-4 at Villarreal last night — but the display did not impress directors.

For legal reasons, Ramos has been advised not to speak about his sacking until after a settlement is agreed.

The Spaniard was one of the Premier League’s best-paid bosses on £4.2million a year at Spurs. And it is believed he will walk away with £7m.

A close friend of the coach revealed what has been going on at White Hart Lane during the last year.

They said: “Juande wasn’t shocked by Tottenham’s decision to fire him but he was surprised by the timing.

“He believes some of the players turned against him and that someone then spoke to the board which accelerated his sacking. That has left him feeling very betrayed.

“He accepts responsibility for what has gone wrong on his part but hoped the players would accept some blame too.”

Ramos returned to Spain yesterday with his wife. He left behind a picture of a club run by Sporting Director Damien Comolli, who was booted out with Ramos and assistant Gus Poyet.

His pal told SunSport: “Juande did not have any say in the transfers of players in or out.

“His impression was that Comolli and the chairman made all of the decisions and he was left to get on with what he was given.

“Comolli did not come across as someone who had any great knowledge of players and Juande looked on him as a dimwit.

“Spurs were given three players who Juande believed were key to rebuilding.

“They were keeper Andres Palop, midfielder David Albelda and winger Diego Capel. But they bought players who were identified by Comolli.”

    Hmmm...

I'm most happy we got rid of Comolli.
  2. Phantom
DC a dimwit lol ......got to love the childish name :)

Look back at the article, then consider the underlined bits. How could they have got this if he can't talk about it? It's bullshit. And the usual 'a source close to him' shit. Don't know why they bother. Ramos already said Modric was perfect for the system he wanted to play.
  4. beals
Very sad that things didn't work out for Juande, for whatever reason. All the best and thanks for all your hard work...
  5. Garm
Advised not to talk about it...but yes as you say, probably just bullshit.
  6. Coyboy
'Dimwit'? Was this the same guy who said a few weeks ago that it 'will be adios for Juande'. Stellar journalism as usual.

And further to that, if his top recommendations for players involved two who were not going to join us thanks to Del Nido's anti-Spurs agenda, it may be just as well that he had someone like Comolli to bring in Bento, Woody, Hutton, Pav, GDS, Modric et al for him.

I believe that the DOF role has fkd Ramos over like it did Jol, I have no doubt if Ramos would have been allowed to buy the players he wanted he would have been a success.

I am so fkn happy that Commoli has gone, it seems to be the only good thing to come out of this for me. At least levy has seen the light now, It will be very interesting how Harry spends our money though, i believe that Ramos can attract a better player than Harry can but i also believe that Harry can get the very best out of a more avarage player where as ramos couldnt. I think we'll see a different Jenas under Harry than ever before.

    COYS!

Yea it must have took hard work to rip the heart and soul out of a club that was challenging for the champions leauge!! Smell the siht guys he is gone we are back to where we were before BIG MJ took over! and now have the right man! to help us rebuild again!

It certainly seems as though a group of senior players precipitated the sacking by making a direct approach to Levy, but JDR hadn't exactly strengthened his position through his apparently random team selections recently.

In addition, the decision not to give squad numbers to players he didn't rate just looked childish and divisive.

As far as the future's concerned, it wouldn't surprise me to see him achieve success once again in Spain. He's clearly an excellent tactician, as he demonstrated on major set-piece occasions, but his limited knowledge of the English language seems to have prevented him bonding with the team and, as a result, his powers of motivation were limited.

In the Premiership, managers make or break their careers through their ability to improve players and to get teams to perform better than the sum of their parts. JDR failed on these 2 counts.

What price Hangdog Harry making something out of our current crop of rejects, e.g. Ghaly, Taraabt and KPB?

Anybody with an ounce of intelligence can see that Ramos was turned over by Comolli and Levy. I think in the long run we may have made a monumental mistake by sacking him.

Interesting to see that Gomes was not his choice, hardly a surprise as Comolli's great scouting network involves being drawn against the players club and appraising him at the game. Even then most people could see the guy was a clown and not a sound purchase

“Comolli did not come across as someone who had any great knowledge of players and Juande looked on him as a dimwit.

    Genius quote!
  13. Azrael
No. I will strongly maintain that the problem lies with all three and while I've no doubt that Commoli's bungling made things a hell of a lot harder to Ramos, the fact is that Ramos couldn't motivate the players he did have and made some woeful team selections. The blame goes all around and its said if Ramos...and perhaps later Commoli...start playing an "it was all the other guy's fault" game.
  14. Coyboy
Ramos has never worked without a director of football so the concept was not the problem. It is inconceivable that Comolli just threw players at him that he didn't want, it simply wouldn't have made sense and is completely counter productive. Gomes, Modric, Pav and Bentley are all very good players and have been successful in their previous clubs, Gomes especially so. This team should not have been bottom of the table, end of. This article is pure bullshit based on 'inside sources'. Laughable that people even buy tabloids or buy this type of fabrication.
  15. waresy
at the end of the day its not like our squad is full of shit championship players
  16. Coyboy
Whom Ramos attracts is not the issue since he took the players he wanted and with whom he worked to the bottom of the table. Poyet and Comolli were unfortunate but necessary casualties.
  17. striebs
I don't give the article too much credence but agree with your first sentence .

The club , both board and many of the players , were just not professional enough for Ramos' tenure to be anything other than doomed from the start .
  18. Coyboy
Exactly and to be fair nor was it this time last season when we were 18th but that was a completely different situation. Either way hopefully the days of disharmony and 'back stabbing' are gone and Harry can get this team playing at least to the sum of its parts which is top eight.
  19. g_harry
ramos would not have won us the game against bolton. those 3points were vital - fair play 2 Levy made a tough call and wasted to time.

Levy only wants best for the club - he signed ramos under the advice of comoli- it was'nt working

ramos if he was serious would have learned to speak english by now and would have taken all press conferences he did'nt in my eyes this says it all.
