I knew I had another one...
Had a chat with Ginola at Wembley Stadium back in 1998.
Thing is, neither of us were there for football, or even a sporting event.

Spice Girls concert!!
I seem to recall that was the last night out you & your Wife had :cautious:

About 28 years ago I saw Gary Lineker wearing his MCC tie behind the pavilion at Lords during an Ashes test match.

As he was about to go in, he was being pestered for autographs. I shouted that I'm a Spurs fan, he grimaced and went into the pavilion without giving me his signature.

that's because, despite his image on tv & that he played for us, he is a complete wank puffin

Saw him at Babington House with his now ex-misses (she had the look of a beaten women about her), he noticed that I'd clocked him and overheard my girlfriend ask me if I'd ever seen him play live for Spurs. He didn't look happy at all, clearly didn't want to be bothered by anyone and later on even avoided passing me in a corridor... twice.

We had Levy in one of our restaurants with his family and he still goes in from time to time.

I left them to their meal but did say thanks at the end for everything he has done for Spurs.

Did he come in just before 11pm as the restaurant was about to shut and negotiate hard on the lobster and steak that was in the last days of its sell by date whilst shouting levy time?

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

My old boss owns a 911 that was owned by John Terrys' wife. That counts right....?

Yeah that counts...

My best football meet story is a bit spooky...
It was April 1989 and I'd just been watching England v Albania with a mate at his house in Palmers Green. Gazza had just scored his first goal for England.
Anyway, after a few drinks we went to the Box of Chicken on Green Lanes. I got talking to the owner, who was an Arsenal fan and had a photo of himself and David O'Leary behind the counter. I pointed out rather drunkenly that he'd be better off having a photo of Gazza behind the counter instead.
Of course then I turn round and who happens to be standing next to me in the queue was the great man himself! He'd popped in for a chicken burger on the way back to his place in hoddesdon from Wembley. He starts chuckling, assuming I was paying him a compliment, but I hadn't seen him- it was just a total coincidence. I couldn't believe it. Anyway, while he's waiting for his burger he goes on the quiz machine and we helped him get a couple right.
True story!

i can confirm after crossing paths with him on several occasions that he is indeed a wank puffin and was well known for being a wank puffin by all at the club.

'89 was a good year, I think.

It was during that summer myself and a few of the Tottenham supporting lads were off on a beano to Southend from the pub called Chimes, formerly known as The Bell in Enfield.

We had in our presence a young fellah called Steve Sedgley who was an Enfield boy and we were informed he was an Enfield boy playing for Coventry...but due to be signing for Spurs in the next few days.

As beanos go it was fairly normal, loads of lager and knee tremblers etc. On the way back a much loved but dearly departed mate of mine produced a pair of drawers from his pocket and planted them on Sedgley's head

You had to be there.

Summer of 1998 working at IKEA. Was working in returns and spotted Daveed entering the building. Immediately left my post and gate crashed his journey round the store. I accompanied him basically from start to finish, he tough the tills and helped him into the car that arrived with a PAX wardrobe among other items. He was an absolute gent, we talked footie but also just shot the breeze. Superstar.

I was fending off the trolley boys at the end - I'd basically taken it upon myself to be his personal shopper. My boss was not massively impressed that I'd deserted my post for proabably an hour and a half but was actually pretty understanding.

Thinking back it seems a bit weird that a footballer was shopping in ikea but I'm guessing he was kitting out a rental or someone else's place.

Saw hoddle just before the French euros at a cafe. Didn't want to disturb him so just went on at the missus about the legend. Should have said hello in hindsight.

"Daveed" was living in a place up Mill Hill way at the time. A rental property owned by a certain D.Pleat and had the rent paid for by THFC.

Come to think of it I also played personal shopper for Melinda Messinger that summer although my motivations were slightly different lol. She was equally nice and open.

Ahh thanks for completing the picture for me!

Spurs had their training ground in Mill Hill back then, Pleaty had quite a few properties in his portfolio which were rented out to players. Nice earner,

My sister was working for the letting agent at the time, typical bird, couldn't remember his name but knew he was Spurs so process of elimination and we got him. LOL.
