Everyone over 40 should be availing themselves of regular checks. By coincidence i'm due in this week to check mine. Not the plumbing but the electrics PQRST.
If your plumbing has issues you'll get warnings , and a good recovery. I carry aspirin just in case of plumbing problem but If the electrics go, theres no real warning unless your obsessed with heart function beforehand.
Everyone should learn CPR and to use an AED, and where your local AED is.

Still trying to process this. Doesn’t seem to have sunk in.

Thanks to @nailsy @Rocksuperstar @TheChosenOne and others, I decided to follow Orient’s progress at the end of the season - I wanted to see if they would be able to regain their league status. It was a delight to find out Justin Edinburgh was the manager. For some reason, it made their promotion feel even sweeter

For this to happen now is so gut-wrenching, so heart-breaking. He was a proper Spurs lad, gave everything in every game. To go so young. My brother is the same age - it’s no age at all.

Really saddened by this.

His attitude in the early nineties when we had little else to be proud of really shone and left a mark on me in my formative years. One of my favourite players despite his place in the hierarchy of footballing talent at the club. I remember a cracking goal line clearance possibly against Villa that said everything about him, desire. RIP Justin, one of ours.

RIP Justin. Met him on the sidelines of a match involving his lad and mine - really nice fella.

My hairdresser mentioned on Thursday how she was at the gym when the “fittest and most active guy” attending that particular class collapsed while doing exercises with battle ropes.
Was only when she added that he was involved in professional football that I pressed for more info and eventually twigged it was Justin.

She comforted his wife - whom she’d become friendly with through these classes - while the paramedics restarted his heart, which happened numerous times over the course of an hour before he could be taken to hospital.

Awful, awful news.

Two things occur to me about this and I could be wrong on both:

1. I always liked him as a player for the reasons people and Ginola have said. He tried his best, other than the Savage incident (let’s face it he was a tosser) he never seemed to disgrace himself/complain/play act etc. I’m 35 so as a kid watching him I always appreciated him but maybe I overlooked his faults. There were players I didn’t like and thought were poor but he was not one of them. And more importantly he seemed like a decent bloke.

2. I’m not sure how someone so fit and so young can die like this. What with Muamba I wonder whether elite athletes (elite in comparison to the normal bloke not each other) are putting their hearts and cardio system under too much strain. I’m sure there have been other similar tragedies with footballers and sportsman. Maybe I’m just looking for a logical explanation over something so cruelly random.

Anyway...

the annoying thing is it doesn't matter how fit you are, there are no safety nets. 3 days before the attack he was out partying with other Spurs legends. flying can be 1 of the biggest causes to DVT's, and over doing it a few days after can move that dvt to the heart. learnt a bit over the last 20years after having 3 dvt's. if I hadn't requested a set of crutches because my mobility problems and was heading to Jersey on holiday, and the doctor (who originally said I had ligament damage) said to get them I had to visit the hospital, I wouldn't be here today
