Van Dijk was also going for the ball

He played well though. But I disagree he's not to blame

Having looked at the replay several times I'm not sure what Davies could have done otherwise - other than completely cede possession in the box to the outside player. Better awareness maybe but I didn't think he made a howler at all. And then went on to play a good game.

Card was ridiculous.

Lived the game. I have a new found confidence in this team. A few seasons ago we would concede an early goal and lose our heads. This time we dug in.

Beets was wonderful today (again) he carried the other 3 at the back.

Mousse makes me drool with how he moves with the ball. Eriksen and Lamela superb. Dele and Kane did well. Kept buzzing around and caused problems.

I love this team. I love Poch. I cant ever remember a time when I could walk into work consistently every week with a smile on my face following a Spurs game.

Yeah had it from my cousin yesterday. He' been in hiding until yesterday but came out with the "You'll make a DVD about it line"

My only response could be "Yeah damn right, and I'll buy it because it was bloody brilliant"

He's gone back into hiding.
Call him back and ask him where the fuck Östersund is, because you can't find it on the satnav.

Great night, just read this thread back from the beginning of the match . There’s some right whiny pessimists on here lol. I lumped on at 2-0 for Spurs to go through. At no stage even the first 10 minutes did we look out of it. It was a bit like the pool game except we’d gifted them two goals instead of one , we were in control of the ball pretty quickly after though and we come good and get stronger in all these games. Just need to not flap in the first 20.
We’ll win by a couple at Wembley.

I'm sorry I've joined the threat late this evening as I've been out watching the match. I've not reread the thread...sorry peeps I'm sure there have been some good posts. What a performance, well done to every spurs player our there tonight. It made me feel so proud to see our beloved spurs playing the way we did. As for Aurier, what a liability. He needs to learn. Time after time he concerns me when he plays. He dives in far to much for my liking. But away from him total awsome tonight. Coys

Hey, what if the AFTV mob are recording on Thursday and they get attacked by a polar bear: who would get eaten first? It's a conundrum, BLUD!

Love Sanchez and how he's been in his first season but I'm hopeful Alderweireld will be fit enough to start the second leg. Sanchez is young and with that can come individual errors and it's a huge game coming up. Maybe start Wanyama too.

Early on it looked like it might be a repeat of our quarter final performance in Madrid...we looked scared even pre kick-off, especially Hugo.

Higuain was offside fly quite a distance for their first goal and we should have had a stonewall penalty in the first half.

Other than Aurier we were the better team by a mile after conceding the 2nd goal and deserved more than a draw.

The only other negative is a couldn't believe that Poch didn't bring on Trippier for Aurier much earlier in the match.

Forn Juve I was impressed with Higuain's touch and hold up play and Douglas Costa's pace with the ball.

We should beat them at Wembley...

The only people that talk about bottling are bottled themselves.
They are often people who hate Pochettino, because he's not Harry Redknapp/Sherwood and not British. They'll say this can't be true because they love Ossie and Ricky.

Very odd considering most of their audience is going to be Spurs fans too - why the F do they have Gerrard on? Even if it’s a Liverpool game the guy is full as ditch water. Just furrows his brow and mumbles
And begins every sentence with "Eeagh".

An awesome final 80 minutes.
We do need to cut out the poor starts making things difficult for ourselves.
But youth makes mistakes and that’s how you grow as a team. Tonight was about experience v youth, savvy v tenacity.
And youth plus tenacity ‘won’.
The nature of football is that individuals have good games and bad games. Eriksen, Dembele and Vertonghen were magnificent, Aurier and Davies made mistakes. It doesn’t make the latter two bad players. Lloris made a poor start but then kept us in the game with great saves.
An hour after the final whistle it’s clear it was a fantastic performance, to outplay them on their turf, score 2 goals where they never concede and to do it the hard way, was another sign how our team, club and manager continue to climb the mountain.

As good as the performance was for 80 minutes, we really need to cut out these sloppy and laboured starts in games. Happens more often than not.

I'm not sure if that's true....a savvier team would have taken the sting out of the game after going 2-0 up.

I thought that we let the occasion get to us and didn't do our jobs in the first 10 minutes.

Hugo looked like he was about to burst into tears and wanted to run back to mummy when shaking Buffon's hand pre-kick off, contrast that with Buffon who was so relaxed and smiling...I think that was reflected in how both teams started the match.
