Tottenham were embarrassed home and away by Manchester City last season, but captain Younes Kaboul is confident there will be no such humbling when the teams meet again in a fortnight.

We could get something from this game. Highly unlikely but being away favours us and city don't look unbeatable

It's a shame really, because up until last season we've always been able to give City a good game. Even after they spent big.

I'm not going to lie, I think we'll lose. But I'd love to see a similar attitude to that of yesterday. If we keep it tight, we might be able to nick a point, but I'm worried our midfield will get abused.

I've picked up Yaya's in pretty bad form so that's something

Reading the article, before reaching for the nearest superstition, rather helps.

There is a world of difference, except in the minds of malicious/illiterate headline-writers, between 'mentally and physically we are ready for Manchester City' and the actual quote of what Kaboul said, which was 'mentally and physically we have to be ready for this game'.

We'll take them, if not scramble a tie. Many predicted abject defeats against Arsenal and Southampton and look how that turned out.

I think we can assume we won't see the same tactical attitude as against Southampton.
I'd be betting on us setting up similar to the Arsenal game. We'll be defending deeper and hoping to be a little more clinical on the break.

May be wrong, i think he'll want us to play like we did against southampton regardless of the opposition eventually, but i think the Liverpool game has given him a little caution against the big teams.. at least until we're completely comfortable in the new style. We'll see, it'll be interesting.

Realistically speaking, if we play the kind of ball-busting, every-man-to-the-pumps game that we played occasionally during Redknapp's days (obvious examples: the wins against Chelsea, Arsenal and Man City that got us into the Champions League, plus the win over AC Milan) and if Lloris plays a blinder, then we might get a shock result, i.e., a point or three.

We now have a manager again who seems to have the capacity to inspire that kind of team spirit, so it's not inconceivable, but it's early days in terms of recovering from last season's team lack-of-spirit.

However, the bald facts of the matter are that they have a stronger defence, a slightly better midfield and a vastly better attack than we have. Only our goalkeeper is superior - and not by that much.

Generally speaking, money buys top players. We managed to evade that truism for a few years through canny scouting, a couple of profoundly-underrated Directors of Football and some swift cheque-writing from Mr Levy, which signed us Carrick, Davids, Berbatov, Woodgate, Bale, Modric and van der Vaart.

Now we only have one player of that standard, though perhaps players like Eriksen & Lamela (and Chadli and Kane??) aren't entirely cooked yet, so we're going to have to rely upon some blood and thunder and a good dose of fortune to get a result in Manchester.

im not trying to start a Ryan Mason is the new god of football theme, but the lad can be very influential to the outcome of the game. If he can keep getting the ball from our defensive 5 and move the ball forward then i think we can cause some damage as Chadli and Lamela seem to be hungry, as does Eriksen. We didnt have that player for the last two seasons. the hope was it would be Dembele.

If we cant move the ball forward then we will be on the back foot the whole game and i cant see our defence holding out to that pressure.

The other major factor is which Adebayor will show up.

Our only world class player is Loris. Lets be honest, and anyone that things that Lamela is gonna suddenly become Ronaldo or Bale is deluded. Football is a very natural game, big players step up and do the bizness. Lets face it Chadli is the only one that was came in at a sensible fee and now looks a player.

This is one of the worst sides we had in years. Pav is a better finisher than all the strikers we currently have. So that should tell how bad things are. And im sick of hearing about "our philosphy" when the team is sitting back at home. And playing the same slow football that got AVB sacked.
