According to Physioroom Ledders will be back on the 9th, Rocha and Big Tone on the 15th. You can't take that as gospel, of course, but if it is right we will have a full-strength defence in time for three very tough away fixtures.

That really would be a nice Xmas present!

So his goals don't matter?

I didn't say that he was a good defender because he scored goals, I was just highlighting one positive - yet it's the only thing you picked up on!

Kaboul has many positive attributes. He clearly has negatives as well, as I already said he has a cockyness about him (that has to go quickly) and he makes to many mistakes - that much is obvious.

However, he has a lot of potential and people are beinga bit to harsh on him if they're going to just dismiss the good and highlight the bad!

I picked up on it because when you are judging a defender, goals arent the priority. thats all im saying. so they shouldnt be used in his assessment. Ramon Vega weighed in with a fair few for us, but that didnt make him a great defender.
im not going to let the fact he has scored 3 goals, cloud the fact that his defending at the mo leaves a lot to be desired and has cost us points.

My opinion of him is that he looks like a great footballer (and i for one like his cockiness) but is he a great defender?

i think and hope he will come right, but im looking at the whole with the big man.

I really hope that's true. The thing is (and I only recently 'discovered' physioroom), I think Ledley was due back this week when I checked it last week. I don't think any new info was released so do they just had a couple of weeks on if the return date comes and goes?

As you say, not to be taken as gospel, but just curious if there is much new information reflected there.

For France U21 he plays at DMC, the French say that his best position is DMC. Maybe we should give him a try at DMC? but the problem is that we need him at DC at the mo as Rocha/King are injured!

Ive said this before and nearly got called the son of satan for suggesting it. I agree it would be intresting to see him at DMC at some point, his attributes as a footballer might suit that position.

I also noticed last night on Football Manager 2008 they have his best position as a DM. Those guys at Sports Interactive are never wrong...

thanks stoof, i was about to post something gushing but will simply say the lads too inexperienced to be playing in his first season in premiership football and whilst on the pitch hes not being guided by older players who should know better.

Kaboul will prove his detrators wrong.....although I cannot understand why his 'up to the summer' quality has deserted him right now. Let's just hope that some 'hot housing' with Ramos will bring the SRAR out in him! COYS!

His 'up to the summer' quality has probably deserted him because he was displaying it in Ligue 1.

Thing is, his mistake was poor but also VERY infortunate in the sense that he was trying to do what he'd been told to do, get it up the field quickly, and it looked to be charged down perhaps with the help of an arm.

the 'mistake' was high enough up the pitch for reinforcements to arrive, problem is Chims decided to fucking stroll back and having busted a lung to get to the edge of the box, Zokora than suddenly stopped and stood like a deer in the headlights when a further 10 yard surge would've put the kabosh on Solano.
I was, incidentally, FURIOUS at Zokora at the time...

Kaboul actually did pretty well other than that, and was responsible for a tremendous ball through to Keano after Didier had once again picked up a bal in midfield and IMMEDIATELY looked back and passed back despite having space to turn and run.

As long as the scapegoaters don't gather up, Kaboul will prove to be a fine player for us...IMHO

I didn't want to mentoin it (given my anti Zokora stance and the), but it was Zokoras fault as much as Kabouls. He tracked Solano then suddenly stopped. It was totally ridiculous. Zokora constsantly makes these mistakes but some people don't notice them, even when they lead to us conceding a goal. There was actually thread started just to praise Zokora's performance, which was surely based on his second half performance (in defence not midfiel). It's as if people forgot his inept first half midfield performance which cost us 2 pts.

I doubt that will have gone unnoticed by Ramos, because it does underline the inherent weakness of the tactics he employed in the first half; if there is a break and our players are insufficiently alert or too downright casual to get back we're in shtuck. It looks as if Zokora simply assumed that Kaboul would deal with the situation and that it didn't enter his head that he might fail to do so. That, at least, is the most charitable explanation I can come up with.

Very charitable indeed. I'd be very surprised if we're trying to instill an "oh, he'll deal with it" style of play rather than "I don't trust him to pass wind let alone the ball, I'll go and help".

There is no way he should have thought Kaboul would deal with it as Boa Morte was in possession when he stopped. Solano overlapped and this allowed Boa to slip it through to him. Had Zokora continued to track his run, then Soalano wouldn't have been able to pass it across to Cole. Even if he had made the crazy assumption that another player would deal with it, there is no way he should have stopped tracking the midfield runner.

Exactly the reason we need an out an out DM. Zoko is neither a DM or an AM, he doesnt score goals, doesnt assist. He just makes the odd lung busting run once and a while and then doesn't produce the killer ball
