I don’t agree, players were making the wrong passing decisions or trying too much when an easier and more threatening option was available, i.e. Son shooting against the post instead of squaring it across for Kane.

1. We are a top team.
2. So Chelsea can't be a top team then. They lost 0-3 yesterday. Can't imagine they made many good options that were a success. United whom we beat. Didn't pick many good options. So City are the only top team in the league?

What was among our "best five performances" was what won us the game and it had nothing to do with shooting (which was terrible). We won the game by totally dominating midfield and having a defence that smothered everything Man U's five pacy attacking players could throw at it.

Before the match, the match thread was littered with panicky posts about how Trippier in particular, but our midfield and defence in general, were going to be ripped a new one by their speedy attackers.

It never happened: after the first 15 minutes, we took a grip on midfield that we never relinquished, Dier backed up Trippier and Davies in turn and everyone used positional nous as a substitute for pace. No one could get the ball off Dembélé or Kane and Eriksen and Alli pressed and closed down every time Man U got the ball under control.

We had a major slab of fortune, being 2 goals ahead for most of the game, due to the opposition sleeping on the job. But the game was won because our midfield and defence never gave them a sniff after the 15th minute. We could afford to be wayward with the finishing. We pressed them to death and kept the ball.
