Vivian Woodward, captain 14 times from 1908-11, 12 times as a Spur. He scored 29 goals in 23 games for England, an even better scoring rate than Gerd Mueller had for West Germany (68 goals in 62 games). Even though the game's changed a lot over the decades, that's some going.
