29-goal Spurs striker has already been told he will be on the bench with an attacking trio of Rooney, Welbeck and Sterling likely to begin Euros qualifier

Suspect he'll get 20-30 mins or so and start against Italy on Tues. If he doesn't Roy is a moron.

Further evidence of the crippling conservatism behind Roy Hodgson's tactics which render qualification for the Euros irrelevant for as long as he is in the dug-out.

Oh good, another Kane story. Only 4 today, usually by 8 45 am you'd expect 7 but it has been nearly a week since he scored.

Hope his form picks up.

So Roy didn't actually say that then? It's what The Daily Mirror 'understands'

Italy would be an harder debut regardless of it being a friendly, would make more sense to start him tonight...Woy is clueless at times though imo.

I could hardly care less about what England and Roy do these days. As long as Harry comes back fit and healthy to play for Spurs then that's all I'm interested in.

Kane will defo make his debut so he'll be happy with that.

Because it's his first call up to the squad, and despite having an excellent season, this is an International tournament qualifier and there's too much at stake to go starting young lads making their first step up to this level untested.

Also if he plays a stinker or struggles to cope he'll be hung out to dry.

And also I don't want him getting injured.

Roy has an agenda about Harry for this game
.
England need to establish control of this game and have the job nearly done, before Harry comes on to score and finish off the game.

Second, he is wound up by the Jurnos. looking at his notes in training, so will not start Harry to spite them, and stop their... I told you so..Stories tomorrow...

He's scored more goals this season than the other strikers in the squad put together (including Sturridge). So yeah, leave him on the bench.

For once, something sensible actually came out of Tony Gale's mouth on SSN earlier. If England get a chance, who would you want finishing it, Harry Kane or Danny Welbeck? No brainer.

Great, start him against Italy so it knackers him out for our next game. Plus when he doesn't score the press can get on his back straight away. Really clever.

Roy will be stupid to not start him, the most in-form striker in the whole of Britain, no, the whole of Europe.

I agree with the second two points but from an England perspective I simply don't agree that it's a risk starting Harry Kane against a side like Lithuania over someone like Danny Welbeck.
