Kane's risk of burnout presents a problem for Tottenham and England

It's already to late imo - since his injury where he was rushed back he never looked the same. Even though he won golden boot, his performance was average.

But we have no real back-up, same with Eriksen. They have to play until they are burnt out. And no one is pushing them for their place in the team. We really need Son and Lamela back - to get some sort of cover for our offensive line-up

Kane is knackered and if Poch doesn't drop him for a few games, it could ruin him long term. The fact that we haven't bought adequate cover for him is going to bite us on the arse at some point.

He hasn't been right since his initial injury last season.
May not just be a physical thing though, could also be mental.

What can we do? He wants to play.
If we dropped him for a few weeks whenever he needs it, we run the risk he leaves next summer.
But Southgate is free to give him a break.

we can reject their call up, much like what fergie did. he paid his dues in the world cup. let him rest ffs. we will be dumb to let him leave as well

Personally I don't it's too much football problem, more a lack of quality delivery into the box. All strikers strive on good service into the box & he's not getting a lot. In the last 2 games I'd say he's had 3 decent balls, one of which he scored from & the other 2 he spurned.

Agree and at the world cup he didnt get great service either. We have had this same narrative for the past few seasons starting after the Euros in 2016. He is a player that hitsbform in patches and scores big when he does. He is young and had a 3 week break after the world cup and we are only playing one game a week at the moment. If anything it is probably the opposite to being tired and he needs to get back in the routine of playing more and getting his fitness and sharpness back to where it normally is. A hat trick against Liverpool will be nice!

Also as an aside it is a poor article. No stats about how many games/minutes he has played per season over the last few years, no comparison of his form in August year on year etc. It is just a view based on a shit team performance against Watford. If anything I think he looks better now that he did at the start of the last two seasons and those seasons didnt work out too badly for him.

kane, eriksen etc. have periods of being average and it's down to fitness but God forbid dembele or any other player has an average game and the same excuse isn't given

What you are missing with this is that Kane had the ability to create goals from unlikely situations . He didn't always need thing on a plate a la Soldado . Just not the Kane of pre-injury .

There may be some truth in this, but if Poch does drop him for a few games and he comes back fresh and sharp, like the old Kane, I can't see Kane kicking down the manager's and demanding a move. It's more likely Kane will understand that he has to give his mind and body a proper break every now and then.

Kane needs to improve his fitness and the only way to do that is to work harder. He's been coasting for to long imo he might be pacing himself but really I'm not buying any of this burn out. Kane is of an age whereby energy isnt the problem if he were in his late 30 I'd say yeah but Kane is 24 and imo he needs to lose a bit of muscle and lean off a touch.

I just feel the whole squad just needs to man up mentally and go for the kill

10-11km is ran each week as an average per player. with a 15min break in between each 90-95min session.

They must be fucked, poor souls.

Just to add, you give a toddler a cup of water and ask them not to spill it, they have a massive chance of spilling it as you have given them the idea. Tell the same toddler to enjoy their water, they are massively less likely to spill any.

Pander to the idea footballers are tired, they will use it as a reason for under-performing.

These players have the best equipment, physios, hosipitals and treatments that money can buy.

Mums and dads that look after babies are tired, not fucking footballers, I dont buy that shit.
