Frederic Kanoute’s agent has exclusively revealed to setantasports.com that the Sevilla striker would fancy the opportunity to re-join Tottenham Hotspur and that Spurs sporting director Damien Comolli told him to call him back in December to discuss the situation.
Christophe Mongai also revealed that Milan and Fenerbahce recently approached him regarding an eventual move for the Lyon-born striker.
Kanoute has been linked with a return to White Harte Lane for almost a year, and Juande Ramos’ arrival at the North London club has put the Mali international back in the spotlight.
The 30-year-old played for Spurs from 2003 to 2005 before moving to La Liga and winning two Uefa Cups, Copa del Rey and the Spanish and European Super Cups.
Mongai has revealed that the prolific attacker has a great relationship with Ramos and would be delighted to settle in London.

“The door is open for Frederic Kanoute’s January move,” Mongai told setantasports.com.
“I have called Damien Comolli and he told me that he does not know yet if he wants to sign a striker. He asked me to call him back on December 15 to discuss the situation.
“I am sure than most of January’s transfers will be done in the last 15 days of the transfer window.
“Frederic loves London, his family too, he likes Tottenham very much and a return there in January is possible.
“Frederic has a very good relationship with Juande Ramos since their common Sevilla adventure. He is 30 but is not a tired player, like Patrick Kluivert for example.
“He feels fresh and can impress, but he will only move with a highly-rated status. During his first experience there he was not playing that often because the manager made him, Robbie Keane and Jermain Defoe rotate.
“Milan and Fenerbahce called me regarding Frederic’s January plans. It has not been a surprise to me because he is a much demanded player.
“Sevilla want to rebuild their team and I have an appointment there next week. They are at the end of a cycle and I think that Kanoute and Daniel Alves are no longer indispensible.”

It's (highly) unlikely, but it'd be wise for Berba, Bent and Defoe to start putting the work in.

Bad timing with regards to the ANC though.

is this actually for real? It is laughable now like.

Why the fuck would we ever sign a striker at the minute? Then again i suppose we might as well seeing as we certainly dont need to sort out the defence, it is rock solid and the centre of the park would be impossible to improve also.

Imagine how pissed off we would be if one of our players agents started saying things like that!

Well it could just be that Ramos is not convinced that Berbatov's heart is in the club. That he's not sure he can motivate him . Suddenly we need a striker. He was clearly able to motivate Kanoute and Fredi likes playing for Ramos. I thought Fredi showed a lot of dignity when he helped knock us out of the UEFA Cup so he clearly has some feelings for the club.
Is it not very conceivable that Ramos wants to give Berbatov a month to show his commitment to the cause ? Doesn't sound so far fetched to me.
And why would selling Berbatov and buying Kanoute make it less likely that we would buy in the other positions we need to fill ? Seems to me that the extra money in the bank would make that more likely not less likely. Both Defoe and Keane are comfortable alongside Kanoute . I see no reason why Bent could not be likewise.
To me Berbatov is not interested in being with a struggling team. At least those are the vibes he gives off. And if that is true ( Ramos will be sure to assess this objectively since he has no allegiance to the player ) then we should get rid of him. And if Fredi wants to move from a top Spanish team to a struggling English one that says a lot too. He would have other options if Sevilla were ready to move him on.
And if it meant that we only have 3 strikers during Africa Cup for a few weeks that's not the end of the world either. Lennon or Taarabt could play in a more advanced role if we had injuries and playing 4-5-1 or playing Peckart for a few games are other options.

"He is 30 but is not a tired player, like Patrick Kluivert for example.":rofl:

His agent must have had a falling out with Kluivert somewhere down the road.

I don't really understand why everyone keeps missing the point. Obviously we are not going to buy a 5th striker. If he comes in either Berbatov or Bent or Defoe will go. Most likely Berbatov.

And why would signing Kanoute mean we would not sign any defenders ?

Surely he means Patrick Kluivert is not a tired player.
