That agent is a knob. Simple. However, the Kluivert dig was top quality banter.

Most of you may know my views on Kanoute. I also think it wouldn't have gone unoticed to our board that Jol fucked off a player who not only was one of Europes top scorers following his departure but also actually personally came back to bite Jol on the arse last season in the EUFA QF. There is absoloutely no doubt that Kanoute was one of Jol's biggest mistakes as a manager. Not only did he fuck him off but he managed to make a player with a greater skillset than Berbatov worth about 4 mil - probably the best bargain anyone has hd since wenger picked up Viera for peanuts from Ac's reserves.

Kanoute has been the fulcrum of Sevilla's football. He could and should have been ours. people that moaned about him being lazy were fucking clueless (would love to know what they think of Berbatovs work rate).

Now it may seem daft and far fetched but lets be honest. If Berbatov doesn't sign a new contract before may he's off in the summer. Kanoute would be the best possible replacement. He's stronger than Berbatov, just as skillfull and creative and can score. He has the added bonus of Prem experience and would be playing in a superior spurs side to the one he left. he would be a bit older but a bit of experience wouldn't hurt our youngsters at all.

I would love to see him back (even though these things often go a bit pear) but more than that it stilll fucks me badly that some other ****s got the the last three years of one of the best players I've seen in a spurs shirt in recent years instead of him helping us to be a much better team that we would have been with him playing. And they got him for fucking peanuts because Jol was a tit.

I thought Freddie was a great player however you clearly forget that:-

1) before Jol was on the scene FK pissed everyone off by suddenly adopting Mali as his own and deciding to play for his new national team a critical time
2) dealing with the situation above pleat was quoted as saying something like Mali where? What the **** do you want to do that for?
3) the fans in general did not like freddie - why I will never know but the chants were never for him
4) this got worse after the hand ball in that semi final at WHL against the scouse
5) pre season just before he left he refused to join the pre season tour and that was the last straw for the board not necessarily Jol

Point fairly made, we all had a part in pissing off a class player and he did not make it any better.

I was never Kanoute's biggest fan, but he is a very good player and is capable of producing that bit of magic to win games. He has won trophies in recent years and that is an experience many of our young players don't have yet. Could prove to be very useful.

“I have called Damien Comolli and he told me that he does not know yet if he wants to sign a striker."

Assuming this article is credible...
Clearly that's, pending on Berbatov exit. I'd love to see Kanoute back, he's a class act through and through, just look at the goal he scored against us last year. Truly a tragic mistake by Jol as someone has already noted. Not to mention, if he did come and Berbatov did leave, Berbatov would be forgotten about a whole lot quicker!

Kanoute was immensely inconsistent for us and i feel he is suited far better to the spanish style of football. Forlan is another example of a player being patchy in the prem and then going to spain and becoming the top scorer in la liga. If Berba is going which i hope he aint then by all means go for Kanoute but other than that i wouldnt want him

I was never a great fan of Fredi, neither I suspect was the board and Jol. It would be ridiculous to buy him just before the African Nations Cup. Remember how he was no good after one of the previous tournaments he played in when he was with us? We effectively lost him for half a season that year.

I seem to remember fans got on Kanoutes back only because of the Mali thing, he was firing in the ANC then came back and lost his confidence due to crap he had to endure. Probably the same fans that give Lee alot of abuse even though he is solid and dependable...

He scored some amazing goals and had incredible control, he looked lazy on the ball, but IMO that was his languid football style. He liked it at Spurs and I was pretty shocked he was let go. Didn't he quit Mali after death threats?, so I doubt that would even be an issue anymore..............If sulky Berbs wants out then bring back King Kanute on the cheap

Woah woah woah there, dezzy. He didn't lose his confidence because of the crap he had to endure, he lost his confidence because his barn door and banjo ratio were all out of whack. The fans didn't help - but you should know what country you want to bloody play for.

And I don't care what anyone says, if you're asked (as part of the club) to go on a pre-season tour then you go. What was his reason not to go? He wasn't injured? He wasn't pregnant ... so you go.

Enough people have turned Ghaly inside-out over his shirt thing, and not enough is made over Fredi's disobedience. If he doesn't want to play for the club then fuck him quite frankly. As we found out with ol' Hossam, there's millions of people ready to wear the shirt, and if he refuses an opportunity then he's the worst possible person in the world. *possible hyperbole*

That said he did scored some quality goals, and I enjoyed his partnership with Defoe (despite, oddly, it being the partnership that took West Ham down ) and if our beloved Berba did desert us, well despite the fact I don't think we need 4 - if we have to, then I'd welcome him back.

But only a gentle hug. Like a forgiving your mate for throwing up on your sofa hug. But only after he's cleaned it up. And dusted. The ****.

I digress.

It still amazes me the perception of Kanoute. look at Berbatov. He offers nothing that Kanoute didn't except that Kanoute's work rate was higher and Kanoute moaned less and turned up more consistantly. Yet Berbatov is an absoloute Hero and Kanoute was "talented but a lazy prick". If you swapped the name round on the jerseys they'd actually be closer to their true reputations.

And DC, I'm sure they were evn less fans when the player Jol convinced them was surplus turned out to score 30+ goals last year and help knock us out of europe with a couple of goals.

clearly on this season´s form you´re absolutely right.

i say this as one of kanoute´s biggest fans, but just look at berbatov´s highlight reel from last year. the two players don´t compare abililty wise - never mind workrate -8they´re both ropey workwise). i loved kanoute but berbatov last year was one of the best players i have seen in our colours (watching us since 1987).

honestly i take your point about kanoute being underrated whilst he was with us - I was one of his defenders. but you´re comparing a ferrari to a very good volkwagen.

i was at the fateful liverpool carling cup match - and he was actually the best player on the pitch, but his error is what is remembered (and not michael brown´s comical impersonation of a footballer that game)

I don't see why there is any contoversey concerning Kanoute. People seem to have developed selective memories where he is concerned. I really don't think he was under rated. I remember pretty much everyone being a Kanoute fan (like with all players there were the odd exceptions). And it wasn't just not just Spurs fans, but the media as well. His talents were there for everyone to see and I really don't ever rememeber people doubting that. But i also rememeber nearly every Spurs fan and all the media being very frustrated that despite his talents he didn't seem to impose himself on games physically. Hence it wasn't just at Spurs, or not just under Jol he never fullfilled his potential. He had 6 coaches and played for 2 clubs and never had the impact he should of. He was big, strong, quick and skillful so should have been a cross between Berbatov and Drogba. He should have physicaly dominated and stretched defenders for 90 mins every games, but never really did (though he was great at winning balls played up to him and superb at controlling the ball with his chest).

Why has that changed in Spain? Watch him play there and it's obvious. In Spain he is imposing. I've watched him 3 times recently and he is a physcially dominating presence in and around the box. And the reasons for this are pretty damn obvious as well. Just work you're way down the La Liga and Prem tables and compare CBs. Looking at the top 3 of the Prem is he really any quicker than the likes of Toure, Gallas, Ferdinand or Richards. Is he better in the air than any of the first choice CBs at those clubs? Yet compare him to the CBs at the top 3 clubs in Spain. He is much quicker than Cannavarro, Ramos, Marquez, Puyol, Cygan and Fuentes. He is also probably stronger in the air than all of them. It's a significant difference between the leagues in general. Check out his current teams CB pairings compared to ours. In La Liga he is able to impose himself on games in the way he should have done in the Prem. Hence he is much more successful.

There are numerous examples of strikers who are more suited to one league than another. Anelka and McCarthy are currently top Prem strikers who struggled in Spain, whilst Morientes and Forlan both flopped in the Prem and are now doing very well in Spain.
