Agree. Defoe was offside far too many times today and did nothing. Keane clearly is our best striker at the moment and it was a big blow to have him sent off. The decision to send him off was clearly wrong. Berba cost us the last minute goal with sloppy play and missed a vital chance to make it 3-1 when he hit the post, which would have killed the game off. A man of his ability should have finished it. Dont get me wrong last season he was an immense player but he hasnt been 100% this year. worrying times for us at the mo.

In response to the original thread, Defoe and Bent haven't been given as much opportunity in the team as Keane or Berbarbov therefore to tarnish the two strikers is a bit unfair,.

I don't think anyone is 'tarnishing' Bent. He was really good yesterday. Played right on the shoulder of the last defender, with them looking worried every time a ball went over the top and he won so much in the air.

Defoe is our 4th striker. How much more of a statement can Ramos make. He picks 3 strikers and leaves 1 on the bench.

It's doing more harm than good having these 4 'awesome' strikers. One needs to go in January - for the sake of the team.

Well said Stoof,
I imagine it's doing more harm than good at the training ground too,
Imagine sitting in the reserves and being a young striker?what chance have they got to break there way into the first team?none whatsoever.

Why is it that Robbie is the only striker pullin his weight for this club.

Bent : waste of £16m, can’t handle the rotation

Defoe: doesn't get enough of a run in the side

Berbatov: just not there at the moment, probably because he's fucking off come Jan 08

in pain after that defeat...berba is starting to annoy me...!!! wheres the magic gone????

Berba is annoying BECAUSE we know what he's capable of - and that is, as you say, magic.

He is still producing the magic, still mesmorising at times, but his attaitude is what I think is really getting peoples back up. You can see when you watch him that he just doesn't seem to have his heart in it.

He can say that people shouldn't judge him just because he doesn't smile but it does mean a lot when he looks to out of tune all the time.

How could ppl be slagging off Berbatov? He's playing out of position in an AMC role don't you notice?

One of Ramos's tatical insight is to make use of Berba's creativity to reap the benefits of Keane's trickery and Bent's versatility. Berba is playing very deep and that is why he makes mistakes- holding on the ball too long etc in positions that would cost us. He's learning his trade in a new position and we are paying as a result.

I think in a few more games this would turn out to be the decisive move for our season. Berba is the only genuine creator in our first team so just let him adjust.

Defoe offers nothing to us anymore, when he comes on he never looks like scoring, we should cash in while we still can! Bent is starting to look half decent winning the majority of headers that come to him. Berbtov on the other hand is seeming more and more lazy by the week. Keane is pure class.

I really am only unimpressed with Defoe. I think he needs to go for his own sake. Keane was wonderful yesterday. He had poor finishing in the first half, but his movement was sublime. Berbatov is playing well he just needs some confidence to put him back into top form. Bent has impressed me a ton in his last 90 minutes of play. I love having Berbs/Keane/Bent on the field at once. If our back 4 could defend, we'd be scary.

He has always been like that, when u watch the goals from last season he just slouching around but when the ball gets to him he steps into action.

Just think if any of our strikers were at arsenal how many goals they would get.

The midfield is the most important part of a team helps protect the defense and supply the strikers and at times its seems they cant do both.

But at times out strikers movement (apart from Keane, Bent at times) can be poor so our midfield have to resort to long balls, long balls to Defoe why even try unless its something he can run onto theres no point. Most of the time out strikers are too far forward for an accurate pass into feet were all of them are much better. And if there gonna do long balls give Berbatov or Bent another option other than the other striker to knock it down too

Defoe needs to use his brain more. I don't know when he is going to realise he wont ever get good service if he stands so far forward he has not got the hight advantage like Berbs or Bent, needs to think like Keane drop deep get the ball into feet then try and link something up but i still think Defoe is still too greedy, he has got better at linking up play but at times it looks like he only does that if he cant shoot, on sunday he had a perfect chance to play Berba throu but passed to Lennon who was further wide why.

i not sure he realise the reason Keane will ALLWAYS be ahead of him is because Keane is a team player and just does think about scoring

Steed is a hard working but fails to create many chances

Lennon cant cross its all good running down the wing turning players inside out but if u cant produce the final ball there no point but also of out strikers see him going to the wing get to the near post its much easier for him to pick them out.

Jenas and Huddlestone are to inconsistent i would love to see Huddlestone like Gerrard always wanting the ball looking to make the pass forward we all know he can pass, no other player but Robbo can pick out our strikers like him(Robbo plays in goal:-|), but more time when he gets the ball he allways looking to to play things safe with a pass back to the defense.

He needs to take much more responsibly when he plays, yeah he young but if the scums fiberglass can do it im sure he can too.

Huddlestone was ment to be the next Carrick don't but it seems like he don't want to cement he place in the first team

Lay off Defoe. The boy hasn't been playing from the start of games this season, from memory his only started one game and mainly been brought on as a sub. When you look at is scoring record he tends to start scoring goals when starting games and given a fair crack of the whip.

Berbatov is a player I'm personally worried about (clearly not interested), his gone down hill as fast as Robinson and Dawson.
