The point I was making (as I explained) was that these points show goals and assists as the main point scorers - how is this the same as champman / fm??? :shrug:

Keano has scored more goals and had more assists than most which is a fact!

Because it isn't taking into acount what he does on the pitch for 90mins. Its taking a very small part of the game and giving him points for it.

A pass of a few yards might get him an assist, but the 40yard pass to find Keane wont get any points, but the pass to Keane created the goal.

Lot's of people mistake my view for a Keane hating mentality, but it really isn't, he is fantastic, but I believe Berbatov to be better, and should be the striker we work around.

Only problem with that is something tells me Keane will be at Spurs long after Berbatov is but, a distance memory.

i have to agree in part with all of you. Keano is probably my favourite player of the last 5 years but i do think that maybe without him up front we'll try to keep things a bit simpler, with Bent/Defoe and Berbatov. what i wouldn't give for a steady 2-0 home win today!!!!

I still feel that Keano is our best forward - he works hard and provides a spark which I feel others don't do. I'm not going to get into a comparison as others have mentioned in previous threads this is about Keane and not the efforts of others / slagging other players off to make Keane look better.

He is also my favourite player so I'm obviously biaised which I'll admit to.

Oh and there isn't any need for patronising people - it may be fun for you but to some it's just bad-mannered. All I did was make a post that didn't have a pop at anyone.

if robbie had a bit more composure about him, he'd be one of the best in the business. However, what he lacks in technique and guile, he makes up for in dedication and commitment......a rich man's Alan Smith almost.

Come on you don't believe that anymore than I do. Berbatov was only going to stay if we got CL football this season. Unfortunately for us that was never going to happen as we haven't strengthened the first team properly and this has lead to us having to blood players like Kaboul and continuing to play out of form Robbo and Dawson.

The reason people think you hate Keane is with statements like that Nic. Are you really going to blame Keane when Berbatov leave because that is what you are insinuating.

That's two things I don't think Robbie lacks. His technique when he doesn't need to think about it is second to none. The problem arises normally when he has time to think about it.

A rich man's Alan Smith is about the worst comparsion I can think of. (Or do you mean the Alan Smith that used to play for that lot down the road?)

I didn't say you had a go, my beef was the patronising - but I really can't be arsed to get into a long-winded continuous debate about this as I've made my point and you've made yours.

Robbie Keane lacking in technique and guile???

RK is one of the most complete players in the premiership!! he has fantastic technique and guile, and clearly he has composure since he's one of the top scorers in the PL.
people then say he's not fast enough, yet he always seems to be ahead of his man - do people not consider that he has incredible movement off the ball. he is an intelligent player and you do not achieve feats like his, without having technique and guile and RK has it in abundance.

he beat his best ever goal tally last season, and looks set to beat that again as he moves increasingly towards his prime. even darren bent said only a few weeks ago that keane's spot was almost assured and the other three were fighting for the other spot.

definitely not a blessing in disguise, in fact it's not a blessing at all. he is our vice captain, very highly respected within the dressing room at spurs and one of the few leaders we have in the team.

I cannot see where having our most effective player and top scorer missing can be a good thing. We will see if Defoe or Bent can grab this chance. This it for them, they must have been praying for chance to show the boss what they can do. I hope they take the opportunity and bang in a couple today.

How am I blaming Keane?! The two partnerships that I think have the potential to be better than Keane and Berbatov are Bent with either of them. Having a good team is more than playing your best players in each position, which is how I feel we treat our strike force most of the time.

I was in no way blaming Keane for a possible Berbatov departure, and nor do I think that it's because of their partnership we are where we are, there are of course bigger problems, but I feel this is something that can be sorted now, unlike the defensive and midfield issues.

Surely that suggests that you think Berbatov is unhappy playing with Keane and wants to leave the club sooner than he would if he wasn't playing with Keane :wink:

Unless you hadn't noticed we are the 5th highest scorers in the league yet still in the bottom 5. Scoring isn't the problem and it is very sighted too think that it is. Do you really think we would have scored 26 league goals with either Bent or Defoe in place of Keane?

Are problems are in defense and midfield. They need more attention than our strike force.

Bloody hell Nidge, how many times will I have to explain this to you before you get my thinking?!

I have said that midfield and defence are the big problems, and just because we are scoring a decent amount of goals, doesn't mean we shouldn't look to improve. There is nothing we can do about the midfield or defence til the window opens, but we can do something about the strike force. Scoring isn't the problem, no, but if we were scoring more, we'd be getting more points. This isn't a replace Keane thing, whch i've said countless times in this thread, it's about playing a partnership. Bent and Keane or Bent and Berbatov will produce a lot more than Berbatov and Keane.
