Juande Ramos is fully aware of the key role in-form Robbie Keane plays for us at the moment.

Captain in Ledley King's absence, Robbie took his tally to nine goals in all competitions - bettered only by Cesc Fabregas - with the opener against Blackpool as we progressed to the quarter-finals of the Carling Cup on Wednesday night.

The Republic of Ireland captain and record goalscorer now has 24 goals to his name in his last 31 apearances for Spurs and is a approaching the magic 100 mark for the club.

"Robbie is a great professional, loves playing football and gives a lot of confidence to the team," said Head Coach Juande after the win against Blackpool.

"He's one of the captains of the team and the experience he has is invaluable.

"We have young players coming up through the team who see him as a reference and it's very important he passes his experience to these players.

"He brings lots of personality to the team and we hope that he can continue in this form until the end of the season."

There was also praise for Paul Robinson. "He produced a tremendous save at 1-0 that helped us preserve the lead and the team managed to hold it together and go on to secure the victory," added Juande.

"We've seen the team play better in the past but to win 2-0 is really important. We want to go as far as possible in the competition and we'll now see where the draw takes us."

Everything Ramos says is right, but I still think Bent and Berbatov would form a better partnership. I want to see it given a chance, not because I think Keane is rubbish, but I think it could be better.

I think that too. but spurs are not all about berbatov, its about the team and at the moment we cant drop Keane.

Yep. Right now Berby is the one more likely to make way for Bent or Defoe. He is having a shocker of a season so far in terms of end product, notwithstanding assists, of course.

By the way Nic, this is on the front page.

I agree, right now Keane is undroppable, it's just something i'm eager to see.

Sorry boss, if you feel it necessary to merge or move, go ahead. I never read the front page, so I whacked it in here.

Giggs is the only player in the Prem that has assisted in more attempts on goal than Keane, so it isn't just his actual scoring record that has been excellent.

Ramos has almost certainly studied every one of our games over the past couple of seasons in some depth. I would be shocked and horrified if he hadn't. Funnily, he's come to the same conclusion as Jol; Keane is one of our main men.

So, yah boo sucks to anyone who doesn't rate him. Those who know what the fuck they're on about have spoken.

Nice to see the heads-up for Robinson, too.

You might be right but you have no evidence to suggest that right now. I think Bent is a great player who people are turning on because he isn't the top scorer in the premiership even though he's scored some good goals despite not having time to settle yet. However Robbie is a very intelligent player, like Berba, and they can link up well. We even see Berbatov performing the Mido role recently (I'm still waiting for someone to resurrect the sheringham corner).

Bent appears to be a smarter player than Defoe but his game has been mostly pace based and we're not really giving him that kind of service. When he settles into the team he'll be awesome and I think he should play more than he has but I think he should play in the cups rather than the premiership

Robbie Keane has been a credit to the club and himself. He has shown a level of leadership and provided goals and assists for the team I reckon Ramos should partner Keane with Bent and give Berbartov a rest and time to revalue his position at the club.

One outstanding attribute I admire about Robbie Keane is his fighting spirit in terms of his abilities to adapt his game to given rivalry of his place. The funny thing for me is Berbatov came along and the question posed in the media was BERBATOV + another but Keane has rebalanced that question at Spurs and is KEANE + another.

Im just happy that Robbie has stopped his arm flapping fetish, that always got on my nerves.

JR has and will use players that are on form, not coz they have a name and they MUST have a first team place but because they are playing with confidence and can change game, the proof was last wednesday with Kabby and his poor performance.

If keane is doing the business in front of goal, fecking play him!
