Marseille and Tottenham in talks over the possible loan of Kevin Wimmer, according to France Football http://goo.gl/DZIBCf

Can't imagine 'candid discussions' on Wimmer without the conversation straying to a certain striker, Batshuayi, and its certainly a possible solution for Wimmer who's game time has been unexpectedly small.

He's looked competent, big, strong in the tackle and has good distribution. Perhaps it's his positioning that will develop with time for him to become a top CB. We cannot envisage the Jan-Toby CB pairing to last all season and I would rather see KW slot into the back four ahead of Dier (because he's so effective as DM) and Fazio.

Fuck no. I've liked what I have seen of him and I think is a very good back-up for Verts
Can't see how we could loan out our no1 back up CB.

3 appearances (all starts, none as sub) - 2 in EL and one in capital one cup.

Not sure we can make a valid assessment of him on that playing time - but I'm surprised Poch hasn't played him more if he thought he was ready.

Granted we need to understand what Poch would do at CB back up - Fazio seems unlikely, CCV too unproven to rely upon, has Veljkovic signed a contract ? recall Ball, and I don't particularly want to buy a cb with the cb's we have coming through, which leaves a loan in or Dier as cb back up....

But if the deal is to get in Batashuayi for money and a loan of Wimmer for 6 months........

If this loan story is true, then it might be MoPo sees:

1. That Wimmer needs competitive playing time to improve to another level (Take note that Wimmer is already a very good LCB presently).

2. Davies, as an able cover for the LCB position (on top of being both alternative to Rose as first choice LWB) behind Vert and Dier as alternative cover to Toby at RCB is Fazio is sold this January.

3. Veljkovic and CCV as a really possible cover for the RCB and LCB position and this movement, will further entice Veljkovic to sign the improved contract that the club is offering him? (If Fazio is sold in Jan and Wimmer on loan to Marseille) Meaning both Veljkovic and CCV will be upgraded to first team from January onwards. Maybe the club now really really wants Veljkovic to stay and thus the plan for a loan move if he signs have been scrapped and now upgraded to bit part appearance in the first team? (maybe to play in FA Cup?)...

Also this might pave the way for negotiation with Marseille for first perusal for Batshuayi, if not in Jan, then in summer 16?. This will be an interesting development and we shall see who the club eventually brings in (SB or Batshuayi?.......ot even Embolo?) Interesting indeed!!!

So we're getting rid of Wimmer and Fazio then right?

Cannot fathom any possibility that we would actually do this, barring bringing in a short term replacement or another youth prospect we've spotted, which I think an unlikely plan. We've been very fortunate that both Alderweireld and Verts have remained healthy this season, and we're about to head into an extremely busy period with plenty of game time opportunities. It would be madness to get rid of both their backups simultaneously at this stage.

Don't believe this at all. He's spent all this time adapting in the squad, he looked great in the few games he has played and he's first choice back-up. Would be a big mistake to let him go out on loan.

You could understand it from his point of view, considering his game time, but our defensive performances this season do justify his lack of game time

The only way this would make sense for a short term loan is if we're planning on going back in for the disgruntled Wanyama which would allow Dier to cover Verts/Toby if needed without leaving us without a DM.

Reall don't want Wanyama, I don't see what's good about him.

Dembele owned him the other day.

Looks like a donkey to me.
