I'd say he was in our long term plans as we offered him a new contract 6 months ago, I just think Vertonghen's form is keeping him out of the side. It will come down to the same situation as Chadli was in last season, whether he wants to stay and fight for his place or whether he wants to leave and get regular football.
I think we'd be very happy to sell if someone paid what we want for him. I do however doubt anyone will do that

Do you think Tom Carroll's situation is the same as Wimmer's? As far as I can see there's only one player legitimately blocking his path to be a starter where as Carroll has four.
No but my point was Tom Carrol signed a new contract in the summer, and wouldn't say he is in pochs long term plans

Every player's situation is different, just because two players who aren't featuring signed contract extensions it doesn't mean theit circumstances are mutually exclusive.

Kind of tough with Wimmer, at the end of the day I think he is a great CB and a great guy to have as backup to Verts, he is only a little inconsistent because he normally goes 10-15 games without playing and then is expected to pull up trees.

However his position in the Austrian national side is also sort of hanging in the balance here, and if he needs to leave in order to get regular game time so he can keep representing his country, I don't think anybody could blame the guy.

And this is another good reason to start rotating him with Jan as I explain on the first page. So that Wimmer himself can see that he will get games and ultimately take over and doesn't just require Jan to be injured

Who are the other CBs in the top 6 that rotate?

HE should get a game here and there against weaker sides or in the FA Cup more than he has so far but he has no business rotating w Jan u don't split up the best CB pairing in the league bro

No idea why pcoh hasn't rested Jan more and used Wimmer. Class CB totally neglected. Could have at least given him a taste here or there to make him feel involved.

http://www.getfootballnewsgermany.com/2016/kevin-wimmers-loan-to-1-fc-koln-almost-complete/

Sources close to GGFN suggest that Kevin Wimmer has completed his loan move back to 1. FC Köln from Tottenham Hotspur.

It was reported earlier in the week by Kicker that the Bundesliga club were looking to complete the deal by the weekend.

After losing Mergim Mavraj to Hamburger SV, this is a move that makes sense for Peter Stöger’s Köln.
This would be really dumb.

This is all a bit weird. Even if we have a new back-up CB lined up - and that has to be the case, right?? - it's hard to know how he can improve on Wimmer, who knows the club/squad/set-up etc. and has shown he can slot in at short notice and do fine.

Must have been a complete dildo to let him deputise for Verts last season when he was injured, then....

Manager picks player who is backup to injured player shocker...obviously he's going to play if Jan is injured but that's not what you said ;)

Whatever. You dont want to stay and fight for your place then quite frankly I dont want you. Bye. Good player but if he refuses to fight for his place and wants out then let him go. Why loan him until the summer, though? Get rid of him permanantly. Find a team needing a CB badly and sell him for a premium.
