Good signing for all concerned imo.
Happy to get 18m, the Orcs get a good player and Wims gets to play.
Job's a good 'un.

If Wimmer hade been on loan at Stoke last season. Been their best player and saved them from relegation, theyd pay more. He wasnt, he was on our bench to rot. Think it will be a god deal for them, but this was his value now.

If he reproduces his form from two seasons ago when Vertonghen was out, for a couple of months, he'll be worth double the quoted £18m.
The most frustrating thing for me is that I honestly think he'd be an ideal successor to Jan and in a few years time we'll probably be wishing he was still about.

I would have hoped so too man.. But if Foyth is really coming, I think Foyth and Sanchez are a notch or two higher in mobility than Wimmer, and natural succession to Toby-Verts pairing, for the highline defence Poch is advocating..

he's a good player. like Chadli I would have loved to keep him but ultimately he wanted more games. I dont blame him a bit. I wish we still had Chadli, btw.

Chadli was a very limited player- was never going to make it as a Pochettino player.

Thanx for the goals though Nacer.

Aren't they both right-footed though, meaning Poch would only use them as RCB/CB, not LCB (Vertonghen & Wimmer's position)?

I think Son was an upgrade, but he'd still be a very useful option to have on the bench.

Thanks for stepping in so well to replace Jan when he was injured. We all worried but you did great. Good luck, Kevin

Poch has used Dier and Aldwrweireld together so he's not 100% devoted to that rule.
A left-footed LCB is probably of particular importance in a back three, when they cover behind the wing-back more.

I would guess Foyth is 5th choice, not 4th, behind Jan, Toby, Diet & Sanchez.
