I think we simply gave Dembele what he asked for as a reward for being such a great servant to the club. Can't find any fault in that.
Yeh, he almost certainly would have left 6 months earlier had we not failed to get Ndombele over the line. It wouldn't surprise me if Dembele's January departure had been informally agreed before the season started, with bothy parties compromising - us wanting him to stay for 12 months and him wanting to leave immediately.

Am I reading it right? He thought it was time to move on but was pissed at Levy for offering him out for sale?

Perhaps Levy had caught wind of him thinking it was time to move on and pre-empted it, as is his right and duty for the club.

More like Poch wanted him gone so Levy wasted no time in strumming up business.

Tripier was on the way out as soon as he decided to play in the 3rd/4th playoff in the 2018 WC.
He put off surgery/recuperation that summer to play in that competition, which is fair enough.
But after being carried off in the semi, he should have shown some loyalty to the club by getting the next plane home, so he could be assessed.
Instead he stuck two fingers up at Levy and Poch.
