Tottenham captain Ledley King has been ruled out for eight weeks after it was revealed he has suffered a stress fracture to his foot.

England defender King, 26, has injured the fourth metatarsal of his left foot.

He has not played since the win against Aston Villa at White Hart Lane on Boxing Day, when he bruised the same foot and was forced out of action.

King has suffered an injury-troubled season, having also been sidelined with a knee injury. <!-- E SF -->

He had earlier spoken about his hopes of making a swift return, saying: "It was building up gradually, just a feeling at the sole of my foot that wasn't right.

"It is something I have felt before and I knew what would happen next. I spoke to the physios, went for a scan and it was right that I rested when I did.

"There are plenty of good games to be involved in and everyone in the squad wants to play. Competition for places is fierce, which is good and keeps everyone on their toes.

"There is a lot to look forward to at the moment and players who are out want to get back as soon as possible."

    Confirmed by the Official Site

Scans this week have revealed that Ledley King will be out for the next 6-8 weeks with a stress injury to the left fourth metatarsal.

Ledley first bruised the bone on his foot four weeks ago and he progressed quickly with his rehabilitation, getting back to a moderate to high level of intensity.

However, he recently suffered a setback when the injury reoccurred to the extent that the Club medical staff are having to treat the injury like a stress fracture even though he has not broken his metatarsal.

The medical staff are fully confident that given the new timeframe Ledley will make a complete recovery and will be back to play an important part in our season.

Seems like an error on behalf of the medical staff that King did not have more regular scans in Jan. Or am I being quick to judge here?
  2. Kingstheman
Damn. Rest him until next season.

Time for Gardner, Dawson and Rocha to become heroes.

Please get better Ledley, we miss you badly.

    For. Fuck's. Sake.

    Gutted about King.

Bit of a side issue - What do you think the chances of Dawson starting for England next week with Terry, King both out??
  6. Ali
Well, I was told just after Boxing Day that he had broken his foot (which I have posted on here a few times, before anyone says anything!). I can't help feeling the club have known this all along but were hoping it would heal quicker.
  7. Ali
Possible, but Terry is supposed to be back for Chelsea this weekend. If so then Dawson will be benched at best.

This will have a major impact on our season, and not a good impact at that.
To lose Ledley for another 8 weeks is to us as it is Terry not being fit at Chelsea, and looked how they have missed him?

Not only do we have this problem, but we have the issue of robbo being totally off form and but two from Gardner, Dawson & Rocha, which in my eyes is not great.
Gardner is not premiership class, Dawson needs a rest and Rocha needs time to settle and get used to the power and pace of the premiership.

All we can hope for is that we are still in the FA Cup and UEFA cup when king is fit again and we are around the top 8 or so in the league

I'd play Carragher over Dawson at the moment

Ali, where was you before transfer deadline day mate, I missed the "inside knowledge" !

Mourinho has already said that there is no way Terry will play for England next week, so there is a good chance Dawson may play some part. Still, if he doesn't, I don't mind too much, the last thing we need right now is him getting injured. Gardner - Rocha partnership does not fill me with too much optimism !

You think Dervite will get a chance?
  12. Jewisrael
Gee, didn't see that coming:roll:. Nonetheless, still terrible news. He, Berbs and Lennon are indispensible for us.

Just an idea, how about putting the Hudd next to Daws or Rocha in a Beckenbauer role.... Or is he too slow?
  13. frosteye
    Well done Spurs, fcuking divs!!!!!
  14. GDG
Hudd at the back with Dawson strikes me as a very sensible solution. Not the quickest CB pairing in the world though, is it?
  15. worcestersauce
It's obvious that the club didn't go public during the transfer window in case it let other clubs know we were desperate.
Dervite is out for the season like King which must be why we bought Rocha out of the blue rather than wait for the summer to get someone younger.

Dervite unfortunatly suffered a serious knee injury during the reserve game against Norwich last month. He'll be lucky if he plays again this season.

feel gutted about that, even though as Jewisrael pointed out, it was not as if we didn't know, but at least it's been confirmed.

on the other hand, now it has been confirmed, and we definitely know what's wrong with him, i will actually be glad if that is the end of his injury crisis right now. an additional 8 weeks is a small price to pay if it means he's back and completely fit, as hopefully the total time out should be enough for everything to settle down and recover, not like the partial recovery periods he's had to undertake in the last couple of sesaons. i hated it when he would played one or two games, and then missed the next couple due to the injury coming back.
  19. NeverRed06
the only good thing is that he will be back against the arsenal and chelski and so rocha and gardner must now step up and show what there made of
