King setback for Spurs as defender unlikely to return before Christmas

Ledley King is still struggling with a knee injury which has ruled him out since the summer and the Spurs star is unlikely to return before Christmas.
The London Evening Standard revealed two months ago that the Tottenham captain had suffered a setback and wouldn't play before November.
The club then put out a statement denying there was any problem.
A club insider has now added: "He is going to be out for another four weeks at least."

Gareth Bale is also making slow progress with a foot injury and may not be back before the Euro clash with Anderlecht in two weeks.

I really really hope this is bullshit.
I heard a ridiculous rumour about Ledley King's knee the other day. But i don't want to say what it is.:-(

you couldn't make it up.... could you?

It's only the Daily cut & Paste so i don't pay too much attention to that.

I don't think King will ever be able to finish a full football season.
Its like Michael Owen or Keiron Dyer finishing a full season for their clubs, it's just not going to happen.

Which is why, we should get a better quality replacement than what we have already, you can bet your last pound that Ramos knows this and on the top of his transfer wishes is a top class centre half.

like who? who's available?

we've bought 2 cb in the last year

I presume you mean Kaboul and Rocha?

I don't know who we should buy, I'm not payed or qualified enough to suggest either, but what I can do is say that its a situation that keeps being hushed over for a long time now.

Many people seem to think as soon as King returns, all our defensive worries will go away. King may return, but for how long?
He is a very very good player, or was a very very good player, but these injuries he has had must be pretty damn serious to minimise his play over the last few years.

Thats all good and well, but our defensice record speaks for itself, we have been shockingly aweful at the back, and it needs looking at.
I would like to see a top class replacement for King, someone who will challenge King for the position, rather than be a back up, or someone with potential, which is what we have bought recently, and it hasn't done us any favours.

I also understand that the midfield hasn't helped the situation either and we haven't looked that steady since Carrick went, so again, another key area.

We have no problem scoring goals, we just have trouble stopping them being scored against us.

I truely hope that King makes a full recovery and plays full seasons for the next 5 years, but I doubt he will be able to do one full season, me being realistic there.

Taken this morning, apparently. Bent was clearly under orders not to join in the team celebrations last night and to present himself at the Lodge as usual.

Alan Brazil was saying this morning that he has been told that Ledder's won't be playing football again.... I know the bloke is a gobshite and he is paid to talk bollocks for 4 hours a day but it's quite a harsh statement to make if it was made up.

The rumours about Ledley have gone on for years.

He can play, but can't train, his injuries are that bad, he will have to quit football...

I hope he can get back and remain fit, I'm somewhat doubtful, and I wish I could borrow some of your rose tinted glasses sometimes, but lets all hope I'm wrong eh ;)
