Former Germany boss Jürgen Klinsmann will succeed Ottmar Hitzfeld as Bayern head coach on 1 July 2008, the club announced on Friday.

The appointment sees Klinsmann return to the club where he won UEFA Cup and German championship honours in a two-year stint as a player between 1995 and 1997.

The former world-class striker won 108 international caps and captained his country to Euro 1996 glory, before coaching Germany to third place at the 2006 FIFA World Cup on home soil. The 43-year-old will now take on the challenge of leading Bayern to domestic and European success.

Time to find out if he can make it as a domestic manager now, hope he does though.

Just seen this on F365. I think it was the best possible job he should have gone for. Linked with Chelsea, Liverpool etc but as it is in his home country, he knows the league and has played for Bayern, it was a safe option but still with huge pressure. Hope he does really well there

Big shoes to fill, I wish him well. Would be interesting if we met them in the UEFA....

Edit: Just noticed the date. I'm stupid.
