What does that matter? If Redknapp is so good, how come he's managing in the Championship, and struggling to get out of it?

If Moyes is so good (as was said for a fecking decade at Everton) why is he now unemployed?

It's all about circumstance. However, AVB is obviously being employed by these CL clubs for one reason or another. The same can't be said about other managers, managers who some of our supporters won't have a bad word said about. Funny that  (y)

If he has to go to Russia to get a job it says is all. Sorry about your love in with him but he failed at two PL clubs and not one PL side has offered him a job. I'd say that's pretty conclusive evidence that he has failed at this level. Managing a Russian club in a league that has two decent sides is hardly a bloody challenge. Half the contributors on SC could make a fist of that job.

Your European geographical knowledge is obviously lacking a bit.
Zenit is located in St. Petersburg, which is a pretty far cry from the outer reaches of Russia (St Pete is one of the primary cultural & metropolitan centers of Europe, within reach of the Scandinavian peninsula, a 2nd largest & one of the westernmost cities in Russia). So I don't know where the "outer reaches of Russia" come into play here ((you make it sound like it's in the boondocks of Siberia FFS))?

Zenit is one of the top clubs in the Russian Premier League (the league is obviously not "major", but it's still currently 8th in UEFA rankings, slightly trailing the Ukrainian League and the French League 1).

Granted, they've been relatively unlucky in the CL competition (lately edged out on aggregate by Dortmund from advancing to the Quarter Finals), but they were league champions several times and also won the UEFA cup and Super Cup (vs Rangers and Man U., respectively)....Which is not too shabby.

Furthermore, I wouldn't jump to conclusions as it pertains to AVB (and his managerial success) just yet.

We'll see what he does, when he does it, ey? He just took over a few weeks ago.
;)
Lastly, show me a young manager (or any manager for that matter) with no footballing experience, who has won a quadruple in a top 5 European league, and I'll admit that he is not "that good" (as you put it). You have my word.

COYS

He's a poor manager at a club that's a perennial winner.

Russian Premier League 2007, 2010, 2011-2012
Russian Cup 2010
Russian Super Cup 2008, 2011
Premier League Cup 2003

Like shooting fish in a barrel

That just about sums up the skill required. He must be fucking over the moon to be here every weekend of a season. Make's managing Rochdale a pipe dream i guess.

As much as I agree that he has an easy job. I dont think any manager could have done very well at Spurs last season with all the changes. His main downfall was alienating our only goalscorer/highest earner. In fact if he hadent have done this I expect he would have lasted longer... probably because we would have won more games.

The dross he had us playing was there for all to see. Boring, predictable and not a goal in sight. If that's the way football should be played then i will take up watching paint dry as a sport.

He's welcome to Zenit after failing miserably at Chel$ea and Spurs.
