Kevin winner commenting “wow” underneath makes me think son has been given British citizenship.

Why would he comment “wow” does seem bit odd. And “soon ??” could only otherwise mean coming back to uk soon. But if he took that today why would he say he was coming to UK soon. Confusing myself ?

Not eligible is he? You have to have lived in the UK for 5 years. Unless he's got a British missus...?
You must usually have lived in the UK for five years. The Home Office can make exceptions to that. Just as they did for Aurier last year with his work permit who wouldn't usually be eligible due to being a serious and violent criminal.

Pretty sure we released Son to play in the tournament next month where if South Korea wins, he’s exempt. I assume Son is likely coming to pre season just to keep his fitness up.

Are you sure they can do that in the case of citizenships though? Granting someone a temporary visa is very different to granting someone full citizenship.

"Usually" is the phrase used on the government's website which does suggest there can be exceptions. I'm not convinced one would be granted here mind.

I just had a look and actually it doesn't matter. Apparently if you're born a dual national you have to choose your nationality by your 18th birthday. If you take on a second nationality after you turn 18 it doesn't exempt you from military service.

Unless he wanted to just say no if he had the security of citizenship elsewhere - but it'd mean not going back to Korea and I find it highly unlikely.

One for the cryptic lovers

If he'd have posted a saint georges flag i doubt they'd be much debate of what he's saying.

Yeah that’s what I was thinking. It’s the only way British citizenship could assist him. It would mean as you saying not going back home, possibly ever. Cutting all ties with his home country. He would likely also become a hated man as they are incredibly patriotic.

Judging by the way he cried in the World Cup I doubt he’d cut ties with S Korea. Unless he was crying cause he knew that was the last chance ??
