Niko Kranjcar will miss the rest of the season after suffering ligament damage to his right ankle in last Sunday's FA Cup semi-final against Portsmouth.

"We had used all our subs and he got a nasty tackle," said Harry Redknapp at today's press briefing. "We didn't know the damage he had done because he wouldn't come off and played on in extra time.

"As soon as he came into the changing room and took off his boot after you could see his ankle had come up like a balloon.

"How he played on with that ankle I will never know. The courage he showed was unbelievable."

The Croatia international will undergo an examination of the ankle under anaesthetic on Monday to determine the extent of the injury and future treatment.

He wears his ankle on his sock.

Well, it was Modric, then Lennon, now him. As long as Lennon comes back, or Bentley comes in with a cutting edge, I think we'll be ok.

Kranjar is that Midfielder-who-scores that we've been looking for, shame he couldn't put a few more in this season.

You have got to respect him for playing for 30 minutes with a nasty injury. What a quality player. Does anyone know how long he may be out for? Out for the season just means a month really but is he likely to be back by August? I really hope so.

Yep same here, could hardly put any weight on mine.

His injury was from a tackle by Brown who I didn't much like when he was at Spurs.
A very destructive and negative player who commited three or four fouls within the first 15 minutes.

He's the sort of player we are always saying we need but he has no class and spends most of the time just running into people. I don't think he even got a yellow card but conceded several free kicks. I havn't got the stats to hand.

All you people going on about a 'mans game' or liking a bit of 'physicality' or chiding our players for having no guts can see where it leads.
Palacios suspended for two crucial games and a key player sidelined for trhe rest of the season.
Three fouls should be an automatic yellow and six a red. Make it 5/10 if you like, but the principal is the same; more protection for the footballers and less tolerance of the cloggers.

I mentioned (actually, screamed at the tv), how the hell did Brown get through the match without a yellow after persistantly fouling. There seems to be a reluctance in cup games for the officials to be as strict with yellows as they are in the EPL.
