That can't be right. Surely you can't be suspended for a game your ineligable to play in?

Is he ineligible by Premier league rules though?

I thought it was just contract specific.

ineligible by Premier league rules, can no longer play against your team I think.

Have been impressed with Naughton, when he and walker were bought from Sheff Utd he had rave reviews, hopefully he will be challenging for a start next season

Thought Naughton was excellent today. Dealt with Sturridge easily, very tidy in possession. I'd be tempted to sell Corluka, and loan out Rose to a PL side, and have Naughton in the first teams quad next season

From what I saw today, he'd be ahead of Rose in the LB stakes here. Maybe next season we should keep Naughton as back-up, and loan out Rose to a PL team.

Why is the club blocking him from playing in the FA cup?! strange

We must have a recall option

One possibility is that we wanted him to get regular first team football, and put that clause in to prevent a club taking him on loan intending only to play him in cup games.

Makes sense, caulker apparently cannot play for Swansea in the Cup either.

Also might be because unlike the Premiership rules, the FA rules say a loaned player can play against their parent team, and you cannot stipulate that they wouldnt be able to play against the parent team (i.e. you have to say they either can or cant play in the cup, you cant say they can play in the cup unless they are playing their parent side).

Wouldn't have thought that was right, Jamie O'Hara was allowed to play in the FA Cup for Portsmouth but still NOT allowed to play against us in the competition when we met them in the Semi.

Rules may have changed now but I haven't heard anything about it.

Of course, forgot about O'Hara. Might be why we asked them not to play in the cup then.
