I noticed Naughton was playing at left back against Liverpool today. Thought he was primarily a right back but it's great news that he can play there too.

Yep. It would be a real waste for him to merely be cover for Walker at RB. Playing both sides, he can cover for/compete with Benny too.

Of course it's also possible that with Walker's pace and athleticism he could potentially do a Bale and be pushed up to RM, which would leave the RB slot open for Naughty.

Naughton comes back and covers both FB spots. Gets plenty of time subbing/spotting them and eveyone is happier and fresher.

This management thing is piss easy. They really make it far harder than needs be.

I'm looking forward to him coming back. Will be a real asset next season. I remember thinking why were we buying both Kyle's from Sheff U but it looks like being some of the best business we have done in recent years.

Naughton got skinned so many times against the Goons, he definitely looked like their weak link in defence. It really does make you appreciate how much Walker has come on when comparing the two Kyles. Still would be useful to have in our squad when Corluka undoubtedly leaves.

Just saw my mate Johnny Mushroom in the chippy (true story) who is a big Norwich fan, goes home and away, and he loves Naughton and wants him to sign permanently and says he is popular with the fans. Living in Leicester, many of those supporting that bag of wank also remember him fondly also and believe with their thai backing they could afford a permanent deal.

I've not seen loads of him tbh but on the occasions i have i haven't been that impressed, so it is quietly encouraging that people on here who have seen him more than i have think he could do a job for us, with Corluka likely to leave permanently and Rose wanting to join a bigger club as he achieved all he can at Spurs and wants to win the trophies his talents clearly warrant

That's not quite true. Naughton got switched to LB for the last 2 games of 08/09 (high profile ones - play offs) because Gary Naysmith got injured. Walker didn't break through - he was thrown in because they were down to the bare bones. Walker only played twice for Sheff U's first team before we signed him.

I've heard very mixed things from Leicester fans about his time there. They also got offered him for £2.5m last summer and didn't take us up on it.

Guess the concerning thing about Naughton is that he's 2-3 years older than Walker and doesn't seemed to have developed that much in the past 2 years.

True, but then not everyone develops at the same rate. And with better players and hopefully better coaching with us that would undoubtedly help. Peterborough supporters thought Rose was utterly useless, but he's still able to do a job for our first team. And I see no reason why Naughton, given the chance, couldn't do a better job.

His style should suit us - he has lots of pace and at our club would be expected to make plenty of bursts forward. At Norwich he is more likely to be required to defend. While I'm not convinced he will be first choice in a couple of years, if Corluka is sold, which he probably will/should be, then Naughton can come in and offer backup for both full back positions.

Of course this all depends on whether Harry will rotate a little more next season, which on past history isn't likely, but I think he could play a few games in the cup and against weaker opposition at home.

I don't know what leicester fans you spoke to but the majority of people in leicestershire said he was brilliant and wanted him to stay but knew he would be a premier league player, but they say walker is better and moving from a championship team to a premiership starter would be progressing in my book

It was the last two games of the Championship regular season, then the three playoff games, so technically 5 games. :)

Guess it depends who you talk to then because every single Lesta fan i know/work with/play sport with/get pissed with et al were gushing over him. Not one negative report on him. Everyone has their opinions i guess.

Heard something locally about a £3m deal last summer but whether it was them or us trying to arrange the deal i'm not sure. Don't know who your source was re: that deal, but i've seem him a few times and i've never been convinced, however i admit i'm not overly familiar with the player and his performances week in week out. Was just interested in the comments about his versatility and with the good reports others give me - i thought he could be a good member of the squad next season

His form for Norwich this season has certainly catapulted him back into squad contention. Will he be happy playing second fiddle to Kyle Number 1 though?

I seem to recall that he was selected at RB for the Championship 'Team of the Season' for the last 2 seasons. Football is a matter of opinion but being in team of the season twice suggests your Leicester mates are in the minority - the rumour I heard was that Leicester (I think SGE at the time) wanted to make it a permanant transfer but his bid was not accepted.

If Naughton can play a season as first choice RB for a side expected to struggle in their first season, but who will finish mid table (currently 13th) it suggests that Naughton is at least an adequate RB - and may progresss more with more experience in the Premiership.

If he is sold for a decent amount, I guess we could replace him (but we might not as we might select Adamn Smith), but I doubt Spurs see RB as a priority place to reinforce with Walker, Naughton and Smoth - whereas strikers are rather more urgent and more expensive.

Should we actually manage to qualify 3rd by some stroke of luck, look no further than Kyle Naughton.
RVP had a tap in yesterday to guarantee their position next year, pretty much an open goal, last minute of the game and our boy on loan pushed him over so the shot was scuffed wide!
I very much hope his thought process was 'Norwich are safe, this goal could kill Spurs, fuck it I'll risk the penalty and shove him!"
Think he's worthy of consideration for both full-back positions next season, as other people have already said. For us to keep these fringe players happy though, Harry needs to learn to rotate.
