Far too narrow in your poll options.

In principle, yes, selling to rivals is bad. You can make a very good argument for it being very good money for a player who is likely to have had his best years already. And it's far too early to say whether this is is ultimately good or bad.

There have been rumblings for a while that our staff think Kyle can't compete at the highest level more than once a week and there was a disagreement between Kyle and Poch on this. Before Pochettino came in, Walker had his problems with injury and I think it's no coincidence that he's been relatively injury free during Poch's reign. I wouldn't be surprised to see him pick up injuries next season under Pep, I'd expect him to play more games, and can see him struggling under this, if Poch is right. If that's all true, then Poch is perhaps being quite clever. On the face of it, on a one off game, the best player in his position in the league. But in a run of games of high intensity with little recovery time can he manage?

If Walker goes on this coming season to pick up injuries or suffer under the strain of games, then maybe we are neither weakening ourselves or strengthening a rival.

With Poch's track record of fullbacks he has worked with then ide say go for it. Walker is undoubtedly one of if not the best RB in the league at the moment but is he going to be remembered as a premier league all time great in years to come? I think not. He has a few major flaws in his game and over £50mil for a 27 year old that wants out is good business. Perreira had a great season last year and is rated highly although admittedly I've only seen him a handful of times. It sounds like people are being quick to call this transfer a downgrade but let's see how the potential new signing or Trippier gets on before deciding. Kyle Walker was pretty average in my book up until the last two years and I think we have had the best football he will play in his career. We have lost much bigger and better players than him in recent years and we've come out smelling of roses every year.

I'd rather we signed a replacement before he was allowed to leave. Admittedly, it may have been sorted behind closed doors but it doesn't give the right message to supporters.

Sounds like he committed the cardinal sin of no longer listening to Poch and getting his own ideas about how things should be done.

Everyone loved it when he bombed out the Kaboul cabal for this, no one really gave a shit when Bentaleb seemingly fell by the wayside due to this also, inevitable though that at some point one of the fan favourites would test him... And we have the answer, looks like Poch is ruthless and won't let individuals disrupt the collective.

Im content that Walker probably had a falling out with the coaching team and therefore agree with the decision to sell. We have a manager who is in charge and he has produced results to afford him the right to be in chsrge.

When you see him come up against tricky wingers, and i use that term loosely as i'm talking about zaha and sterling, he goes to pieces. When teams target him, like at West Ham, he crumbles. I don't see anyone else in our team do that. That friday night at the OS he looked like Bambi on ice, you could see in his eyes. Against Zaha, both home and away, he resorts to trying to take him out the game.

Not sure the City centre backs will be so accommodating helping out like ours did. Stones and Otamendi, good luck with that Kyle. Knowing Guardiola's penchant for playing players out of position, he'll probably end up in centre midfield by christmas.

I'm happy with the deal, and i certainly trust Poch's faith in anybody he either promotes or buys. Our lot are just pissed off we haven't spunked 50 odd mill on the next best thing to come out of monaco.

Poll options aren't great so on the fence.

Walker's really upped his game over the last couple of years, and has undeniably been part of our rock solid defence so selling him at all is a bit of a kick in the teeth.
The fee is astronomical for a defender, so bearing in mind we have a good replacement in Tripper already, I can understand cashing in if the boss is happy to which it sounds like he is. Obviously abroad would have been better but £50M from City or £30M from Milan (for example) is quite a difference and easier for the club to spin.

The issue I have is having to buy another replacement due to KWP being nearly ready but not quite there. Having to spend nearly half the fee we get for Walker on someone who may need 6/12 months to get used to the PL is a gamble and a half. It's a shame we couldn't have held onto Walker for another 12 months, allowing KWP to develop to a stage where we could rely on him.

Maybe the new RB will come in and be fantastic, displacing Tripper and become better than Walker ever was or will be, but losing one of the best RBs in the league to a rival sucks whichever way you sell it.

Not sure as he is a great attacking right back. I do worry sometimes defensively though. His pace gets him out of a lot of bother sometimes. That will eventually go with age / one bad hammy injury.

However his position vs west ham away this season was so bad not even his pace could get him out of bother.

Is this the right time to sell am not sure so guess am on the fence.

The thing is we dont see him day to day in training etc, who knows how he performs. Maybe he is slowing up a bit? I dont believe in strengthening our opponents but if he has reached his limits and will start drop now we may have timed it perfectly. He is prone to an injury as well so thsi could be the right decision.

And I was bang against it! But could just be the right thing to do. If we do sign a couple of solid players out of it for selling a 27-28 year old, good business again.

I think his age is something that hasnt been brought up enough. Players like Walker wont keep that pace up for ever, a couple more years maybe?

we should not be strengthening direct rivals , if we have to sell a player because he wants away or the manager no longer has confidence in him then sell abroad.

Incredibly overrated IMO for a long time now, even with the spiralling cost of transfers I think this is a great deal for the club...Walker wants out too, so it's a win/win IF we sort a replacement out EARLY.

Even if you don't get as much money for the player?

Yes.

Because selling to a non-rival (CL considerations apart) does us less damage than selling to a direct rival. So a lower price for selling abroad would simply reflect that fact.

Walker might do a Lovren and be piss poor at City; then £50m is a steal. Or he might be Roberto Carlos and play well until he is 34 then good business by City. Can't decide until my 2020 Future Specs start working again

On the fence for sure.

Walker sold + pathetic attempt at incomings = awful decision
Walker sold + money re-invested in quality = very good decision

Quite simple for me, couldn't give you an answer either way until September 1st.
100%. Go and buy Lemar with the money(for example) and have trippier and Lemar instead of Walker and Sissoko, and brilliant call. Go and buy a few average nobody's and same old Spurs.

A world-record fee for a defender who wanted out, one who we (reportedly) didn't want to keep, is great business. It's unfortunate that we're strengthening a rival, yes, however, if our replacement is adequate and we can reinvest the remainder of the change into improving the squad further, I'll have no complaints.

Imagine how you'd feel if this were Rose, Eriksen, Kane, or Dier - we'd be on suicide watch. Walker is a good player, but he's not indispensable.

Chelsea won the league with Victor Moses at right back and Leicester with Danny Simpson. A right back doesn't win you a league, and, more important than all of that, is that Pochettino at the very, very least has more than earned our trust by now.

We'll be more than ok.

We have weakened the team imo. people can say what they like of Walker but the bottom line he is better then Trippier. It would of been better to sell Trippier to Man C and given Walker a pay rise with money left over.

but what the hell do i know

Weakened the squad maybe but wouldn't say we weakened the team.
