It's a shame to see him go but 45m is a good fee for a player approaching the final third of his career.

I don't understand why people are getting their underpants in a twist over "selling to a direct rival" the fact of the matter is Man City were obviously willing to lay down the asking price, it makes geographic sense for Kyle and I'm sure they're paying him a wedge. Trippier has shown himself to be competent and we have KWP who looks like he could become a genuinely top full back.

Honestly think he is a better baller but serious pace and mobility Issues against the best. Hope I'm wrong

I agree. I think he improved the more he played. Apart from that brain fart against martial

Well yes and no actually. Of course in the very simplistic, raw sense we've sold a member of the first team to a rival. The issue is that if he wanted out the only clubs that could afford him are direct rivals. I'd sooner have 45m in the bank than a player who doesn't want to be at the club.

I'm a massive fan of Walker and I'm in no way happy to see him go but the fact is that he wanted out and we've managed to get an excellent fee, I'm not really sure what more Levy or Poch could do in the situation.

I think people are missing the point here, the deal is a risk but most fans are seeing this through the lens that we are inferior to City. The club, and Poch, aren't - he seemingly was happy for Walker to go, they've shook hands and said goodbye, and they're not bothered about where he's ending up. The club is confident and backing itself to keep moving forward.

The attitude is different to other occasions and there is a different feel to this transfer and dealing with the big clubs... Carrick, Berbatov, Keane, Modric to Chelsea saga, Bale, they all had either Levy or the incumbent manager or both clearly a bit rattled and a feeling we were the smaller club getting picked off by the big boys. This one is different, it's a transfer on our terms, by a much more self confident team.

It's strange seeing Kyle walker move on to a side that isn't significantly lower than us I thought if he was to leave it would be to a much lesser side .

It's also tough to see the man city directors talk about watching Walker "progress" at Tottenham like we are some sort of feeder club :(

Fergie never had a problem selling his star players when they weren't towing the "team" line. It's £50m in our pockets and I wouldn't be surprised to see Walker' s mistakes creep back in.

I'm pretty torn on this one to be honest.

On one hand it strengthens a direct rival and weakens us a bit, on the other hand it's good money and we do have pretty decent cover in Trippier.

I think to be fair the club do know what they're doing and as much as I hate seeing us sell our good players I think every time we have I has been at the right time, for the right reasons and for good money.

-Carrick: Had come as far as he could with us at that time and Man.Utd weren't a direct rival at the time, we were in the tier below the top 4 and we got decent money.

-Berbatov: See Carrick

-Modric: This one was disappointing as we were going places by Arry's plan wasn't really for long-term success and seeing what Modric has done at Madrid you can't say it was the wrong move for him, just disappointing to lose him and great that we didn't sell to Chelsea.

-Bale: See Modric except when we sold bale he was our one man team so also see why he left and if we'd spent the fee for him better then it would've been a very good move to have improved our overal squad.

-Walker: Possibly the least and most disappointing of them all for different reasons. Least disappointing as we have direct cover, he is one of our older players, one of our more replaceable players, BUT most disappointing as it sets a bad tone that we've sold another player to a direct rival and it could turn heads of other players, it's also disappointing if he thought he couldn't win trophies with us, if he left more for money and to move back to family and for a fresh challenger then I'm ok with it.

The big thing now is that we absoloutely don't sell any other first XI players even if it was to a Barca or Madrid for £100mil, we just can't do it not after we've just sold Walker. Out of all of our first XI, Walker was probably as we've said the one we'd let go first but it's still a huge loss as he's the best RB in the league and has been a big part of our best defence for years.

Hopefully we can bring a few in soon to take he attention away from rumours and outgoings.

Seriously, I feel about Walker leaving exactly how I felt about Keane leaving for Liverpool. He's been a good servant, he has some good qualities and some flaws and we are getting a fantastic price for a player who we decided wasn't automatic first choice for us anymore and who decided in that case to take his toys elsewhere and we decided we were OK with him doing that.

Thanks for the effort he put into every game, thanks for fucking off and delivering a stupendous fee.

Depressed. Simple as that. Don't like the way he suddenly knows everything all of a sudden. He was going nowhere until Poch got his hands on him so having a dig at him now is the sign of a money grabber. Pep certainly wont coach him any better than our man. I almost was close to giving up till Poch came along...so if Levy dismantles this team now and Poch ends up going I'm done. Its never gonna be this satisfying under someone else so what would be the point?

In the end, if a player wants to go, there's little you can do. It's raw not only because it weakens us significantly (Walker has hardly put a foot wrong for the last two years) while strengthening a direct rival but even more so because of the message it sets to the rest of the squad - go double your money at City, Utd or Chelsea and also your chances of winning something. It's raw because just when it felt like we had caught up with the megabucks clubs, at least on the pitch, they overtake us with ease.

Levy won't dismantle the team mate. It's a tough period because of the new stadium but even the bald one isn't that stupid. We won't be selling any other first XI players, it's disappointing but I think we'll be ok.

All very true. Whichever way you spin it, it is a better deal for them than us. I imagine Everton will also feel the same if they sell us Barkley.

Seems like Walker had a dig at Poch on the way out.

“I am thrilled to be signing for City and can’t wait to get started,” Walker said on the club website.

“Pep Guardiola is one of the most respected managers in the world and I feel he can help me take my game to a new level.

Considering how we have heard about heated arguments behind the scenes it wouldn't surprised me if they had a falling out, quite childish from Kyle if that is the case, whatever happened to being spurs for life?

Just goes to show that there is no loyalty in football these days.

What is he suppose to say...why is it when we sell any of our better players there's always a conspiracy. ManC obviously tapped him up with wages, spurs weren't willing to up or match the offer so we excepted the money. We could of just said no to ManC and carried on.

Walker has been a good pro since he came from Sheffield Utd.

He wants to go and we're getting good (wouldn't say outrageous but above my valuation) money for him. It's one of those things.

I'm sure Levy would rather have kept him but if the player wants to go it's usually in everyone's best interests to let him go.
