Also If you consider us playing 3 at the back with Walker at RWB what really does he offer more so than Trippier aside from pace. His delivery isn't as good and he doesn't really go past players when advanced.

So it begs the question what use is that pace when he's not able to fully use the ball when he gets there.
Walker's pace means he'll hardly ever get rinced by quick wingers. Trippier got skinned 1on1 vs Martial in our last game at WHL. Massive loss defensively in big games vs teams that have quick technical wingers. Walker was also a constant threat behind opponents left backs, pinning their whole left side back. Just by being up there, everyone knowing his pace, was a massive boon and opened space inside for the likes of Eriksen. I don't think Trippier has the same impact.

Lets just hope he goes back to his old brainfart mode.

I understand your point but by the same stretch I think most left backs that do their home work know that 90% of the time he'll get up field and check back with a backwards pass.

Don't get me wrong, he's a really good player but our loss is defensive not attacking and with the 3 centre backs it's a limited loss.

I do like Walker but let's face it, I'd rather he left than Danny Rose.

I agree! I've posted the same arguments before regarding Walker's value. He doesn't have Trippier's footballing brain, and he doesn't have Trippier's crossing ability. Yet, he can travel from defence to attack like no other RB in the PL.

He'll open up space and pass to an Eriksen or Alli as we go forward. He'll keep an oppo left attack wondering whether it needs to attack or defend in different plays all game. Just like Rose does on the left.

Trippier doesn't have Walker's pace, and will generally just go to his defensive remit when we're playing top PL teams. I like Trippier, but don't think he's a first choice RB against the likes of Chelsea or City, mainly because he won't get forward enough to help us in attack.

World record for amount spent on a Defender...

... and now, the record for the amount of money spent on a substitute.

But there is always more than one way to skin a cat

i would absolutely believe that Poch and the coaching team have considered how we are going to play without him

Whilst I am not privee to how that will restructure our game plan I also can see the obvious downsides but really believ he would not have gone if it didnt suit us

I think we sold at the right time. I'm really looking forward to seeing Trippier get his chance since I think he will be a great provider. Defensively we will be more solid with 3 CBs and Trippier and Rose will be an absolute nightmare for our opponents. Walker was a great servant to the club, but if he was agitating and causing unrest he had to go, and we got a massive fee for him which we'd never get offered again. He might not even make the City team if they sign Danillo so he might regret the move in the long run.
