Tottenham's Kyle Walker confident Manchester City transfer will happen in time for him to FACE Spurs in friendly

The right-back hopes to be a Blue within a fortnight — with the clubs meeting in the States on July 27

Kyle Walker expects to be a Manchester City player by the time Pep Guardiola's stars head off on their US tour to America next month.

Tottenham and England right-back Walker has told pals he hopes his move will happen in the next two weeks, despite Spurs chairman Daniel Levy playing hardball over the fee.

The two clubs are still some way apart in valuation with Levy demanding close to £50million for the 27-year-old, but an agreement is expected to be reached in the coming days.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino wants the deal rubber-stamped quickly so he can move for a replacement early in the window, which officially opens next Saturday (July 1).

And that could mean Walker lining up for City AGAINST Tottenham when the clubs meet in Nashville, Tennessee on July 29 in the International Champions Cup pre-season competition.

Suppose there is a chance that Man City might actually hold back on this one and only pay what Levy wants nearer the start. They know that Walker will be training hard so will be pretty fit, and should be able to fit in as Pep likes his full backs to play high up the field. If they hold back on buying Walker now knowing we won't replace until he has gone, then the longer it goes the less time we have to sign a replacement and get him fit for the start of the season.

The trouble is we don't have enough experience at right back if Walker goes, and City know that. If we really are looking at Pereira perhaps the best thing we can do is go get him now, that way he will be ready for the season, and if City wants a fully up and running Walker they pay the price now, or the same for a player that won't of played much football in the pre season

His agent really working hard getting the story in the papers for today then. Both Star and Mirror running the same regurgitated story again plucking figures out of thin air.

Stones is all I'd say if I was Levy. Walker looking such a little bitch, not like he's in a team that finished above oil city last 2 years

We should aim to get this one sorted soon because him lingering around not knowing what's happening hinders us as well.

Without knowing the ins and outs it's hard to know. I doubt it's unfeasible that he stays with us next season. Obviously Man City are desperate for him but we aren't to sell. I've maintained it will go on all window because we hold all the cards. If Man City want him, they'll have to pay what we want, whatever that figure is today. We know with DL though that today's figure isn't what the figure is tomorrow.

Not sure about anyone else but I'd actually be very disappointed if it was only £50million. Stones was £47.5mil, yes he's younger but walker is in the prime of his career and we'd be selling to a direct rival!!!! I'd hope we're going for minimum £60mil but starting the asking at £80mil, seriously let's not fuck around here, so disappointed with this if it happens as he's a bloody good player and it would be directly strengthening our rival :( Trippier is good and I'm sure Potch can develop him more but still 100% prefer to keep Walker.

How ever much we might get, I'm still uncomfortable weakening our position whilst strengthening our key rival where they have obvious weaknesses.

Walker for all those occasional brain fart moments is the best right fullback in the league.

I don't want to see him go either but if they get him and possibly aubameyang it looks like he will have a EPL winners medal next season.

Reality -
If Walker does indeed go for £50m, then based on recent media speculation, and to some extent, ITK stories, that money could/should/would buy Pereira, Ginter and Sessegnon.

Now, whilst I'm half reluctant to see Walker go, as I feel selling England's current no.1 RB to a rival is a bad signal to send, the cold hard fact is, towards the end of the season, he was no longer outright first choice at Tottenham, Trippier was applying sufficient pressure to get starts over Walker. Trippier has even broken into the England setup on late season form.
So, is Walker indispensable, no.
Are we stronger with him, maybe.
Will we miss him, remains to be seen.
The positive in this situation is, Pereira appears to have the same athleticism and dynamism, but possibly with more culture on the ball, and with Trippier already in situ, he would have a bit of room to adjust to the league.

If the situation changed and Walker stayed, we'd be in a strong position. I'd be happy enough with that, however if he does leave, I don't feel it's the end of the world. There are RB's out there. Losing Rose would be harder to replace, likewise Alli & Kane.

It will go something like

City: ok C chops here's your £50 mil

DL: no the 50 was the add ons fee, I want £75 for the sale

Media reports suggest we are looking for £50 million.

Media reports state Southampton have told Liverpool Virgil van dijk will cost £70 million.

I still think £50 million is undervaluation for Walker, and not based on Southampton's supposed asking price for Vvd.

PFA team of year, on a long contract, key player for the team (especially in the way we set up at times). John Stones fee to be factored in.

Not for me, I'd say whack another £10million on the 50 and yep, see ya later if you want out.

I'll miss that dazed and confused look though.:greedy:

Southampton are never getting £70m for VVD. Thats a fee to put people off.

Trouble is it's also by the sounds of it put VVD off of playing for them again, I doubt he would go on strike, but by sounds of it, he definitely ain't happy he isn't moving up to the "land of thieves", most probably fancied a new car via an insurance claim.

This I understand, but I suppose if you want a certain player that much?.

I still think £50 million is too cheap. Understand he may have burnt a few bridges with Poch, but in current football climate I don't see £50 million for the leagues best RB/RWB an obscene amount.

We should be seeking an obscene amount.
