As much as I love La Liga, I can't agree. It will mean the League will be another 2 horse race again next season. The most likely team to join them would've been Valencia, but they clearly needed the money which resulted in the sale of Villa. Now they'll struggle to keep up again, and possibly struggle to get into the top 4 next season. I can't see Sevilla splashing big money in the summer either. So it will be Barca or Real Madrid for the title again.

You also have to bear in mind that there will be some top players coming to England in the summer. There's only room for so much talent at Barca and Real Madrid, the rest of the teams in Spain can't afford to splash out £20m + on top players. I can also see Aguero joining Chelsea in the summer. I'm sure Sir Alex will make 1 big summer signing. Man City will probably sign a couple of big names. Arsenal will use the Fabregas money to strengthen. Spurs will want to make a statement and sign 1 or 2 big names too.

Next season, the EPL is likely to be very tightly contested. If Spurs and Arsenal can bring in a couple of players, I think both can challenge with Chelsea and Man Utd. If City can still attract big names, they could challenge for top 4 next season. I wouldn't write off Liverpool pushing for 4th either. Then there's the outsiders in Villa and Everton pushing for top 6.

I just can't see La Liga being that tight next season. It'll be Real Madrid and Barca for the title, and then way down it be 3rd - 6th placed teams battling for top 4, then about 6 teams battling relegation....

....

Yes, but this is how the EPL has been for the last decade or so. It has always been a two-horse race more or less for the last 12 years, ie Man U and one of Arsenal (before Abramovich got Mourinho) or Chelski (since Mourinho). Whereas La Liga had Valencia winning it just about 5 years ago and Sevilla pushing Barca and Real M till the last day for the title under Ramos in 2007. Barca and Real Madrid dropped quite a few points in the last couple of seasons to teams like Valencia, Sevilla, Deportivo, Atletico Madrid. How many points did Man U and Chelski drop to Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City, Spurs, Everton? Hardly any is the answer.

I can see the power shifting gradually from EPL to La Liga now.

I think La Liga was close 3 years ago. However, Barca and Real Madrid have really pulled away from the rest of the pack the past 3 seasons. Whereas Chelsea and Man Utd are starting to lose ground now. Arsenal were in the title race, and although they didn't go all the way until the end, they were in the race for a fair period of the season. Something that can't be said of Valencia. Last season Liverpool run it close, and made it a 3 horse race too. While in La Liga, Barca completely ran away with the Title.

I do agree that the EPL has been between Chelsea and Man Utd since 03/04. Yet I feel that the rest of the pack have slowly closed the gap over the past few years, and there is much more chance of a new winner in the EPL than there is in Spain. I would say the power is shifting towards the EPL as far as competition goes. Other than Barca and Real Madrid, nobody else is able to really compete for top class players in La Liga. In the EPL the likes of Man City, Arsenal and Spurs can all look to spend big this summer. I just can't say the same for the likes of Valencia, Sevilla and Atletico Madrid.

it hasnt been close since 2003 when valencia nipped a resurgent barca to the title. Barca were horrible when rijkaard first took over, signed edgar davids and won like 15 on the trot.

the other clubs are nowhere near. madrid have spent stupid amounts. barca habe devolped talents and have signed Villa

How much did Ibra cost? Eto'o plus about 50 million? So about 70 million. I know its not on the level that Madrid have spent, but it's still a stupid amount as well.

Dont forget they also spent 25million on Chygrnskiy who is one of the most shocking defenders ive seen at a top club.

I think the gap now between Real Madrid/Barca and the rest in la liga is as big as Celtic/Rangers and the rest of the EPL.

I just cannot see any teams challenging them next season or for a few seasons to come. I think it's a bit of a shame, I know it's been like that for the majority of time but it was good to see Valencia and Depor winning it not so long ago. And teams like Villarreal and Real Sociedad coming runner up.

I guess that's just football in general in most countries though, the days of different teams having cycles have kind of gone due to the huge amounts of money involved at some teams.

Would really like to see things evened out a bit across the board.

yeah that was when nunez and gaspart were presidents of barca and just threw money at players like kluivert, mendieta etc that were useless.

the madrid 11 I put was what they used for the most part for the 2nd half of the season.

I have to agree about la liga but in the premier league i think that cycle still do happen but just a lot harder to come to the end of the cycle than before look at liverpool but man utd are still yet to come to an end

One the thing going for us is the when platini rules come in, it wont make a differance to us as we still spend make a profit even without CL
