I don't think that's the reason tbh. I think it's more that they are playing to the wishes of the supporters who are pretty much unanimously against this happening, and have been very vocal about the fact.

Yeah maybe i'm just a cynic.

But then is it fair that the English fans of those clubs will miss two of their fixtures that season? Maybe the second fixture could be at a neutral venue in England so that neither team had home advantage in either match?
Maybe they could just play all home fixtures at home ;)

My experience when I was in New York last was that the people I spoke to were far more interested in the English league and all had their Clubs that they supported. I think the Real Madrids and especially Barcelona are far more popular down here in Buenos Aires where I live with the Spanish influence, not to say that the Prem is not more widely watched as there seems to be more English football on the TV here.

It's a nonsense
and in the end about money not football.
Complete disrespect to the loyal home fans
insulting to the players who were not consulted
and might fail this time round
as the similar suggestion for the Prem did a few years back.
Eventually money will win.

Just beware, this is gonna happen to the PL too. We're hosting NFL games and soon we'll be traveling to the states to play PL games

Not sure. Think they'll be too many arguments about it. The pl need a two thirds majority vote on it. How will the money be split? Evenly across the league? Utd and liverpool wouldn't want that and the smaller clubs wouldn't want the rich getting even richer. Fifa would have to agree and they will only do so if the fa back it which i don't see happening either. What about tv deals? Are sky and bbc going to want to send crews out there?

Being reported that Barcelona vs Girona will be played in Miami in January 2019.

Real Madrid have opposed staging a Spanish league game between Barcelona and Girona in the United States.

La Liga asked the Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) for permission to hold the match in Miami on 26 January.

In a letter to the RFEF Real said it was "fundamental" teams play "home and away at each other's stadium" for "the integrity and equality" of La Liga.

I can see Real's problem with this. One of their rivals play an away game in a neutral stadium that will probably be more like a Barca home game for the crowd.

Still think it's a stupid idea to play in other countries.

If flights and accommodation were included in the season ticket then I’d be up for it ?

Or more like, Real Madrid are pissed that Barcelona have been selected to grow their brand rather than them.
