And special shout out to that useless **** Jon Moss who allowed play to continue whilst Lamela was on the floor with blood pouring out of his head.

Yes he was useless but it didn’t look that bad from my tv screen until the game was stopped. Players fake injury all the time so it’s understandable that refs make the wrong call on occasions.

Lamela was down holding his head ... Moss looked at him twice and ignored him ... too scared to stop play as Palace were attacking and looking dangerous.

To be fair Lamela holds his head like his brain is on fire no matter where he's injured himself.

That’s one opinion. Maybe he didn’t SEE the blood. You’d have been livid if that was Andros in the floor faking a head injury as we chased an equaliser wouldn’t you?

I thought they were meant to stop play for head injuries?

Watching the coming together on TV it did not look like Lamela had got a head injury until there was a close up shot of his head. From the incident I don't think a head injury was at all obvious and of course the Palace crowd thought he was faking. Players hold their heads if they have stubbed their toes. Let's face it football prizes cheating in any way possible as a virtue, with many professionals raising it to an art form, so it is not surprising that referees don't take players reactions as reliable without any corroboration.

They are supposed to stop play if the official spots a head injury. It was not obvious that Lamela suffered a head injury at the time - though, in retrospect, you would have thought the blood would have been visible.

I think if Moss had seen blood, he would have stopped it.

They are, but if they blew the whistle every time a player holds his head, every game would take a fornight and stopping play at any time during a game would be a piece of cake. Anyway, Moss has proved time and again that his eyesight is shit so he probably didn't see anything anyway.
