Even though we lost got a good feeling about spurs atm.
The team is coming together slowly and I have absolute faith in the manager and his vision, Come next season the passing will become more telepathic, as opposed to telegraphed, because the players will have learned the nuances of their teammates.
I also have a good feeling Lamela will come good, and I even have hope for Soldado. Something about the way they play makes me believe. We shall see.

I no longer defend Soldado. I thought he would improve with both Lamela and Eriksen behind him, it didn't happen. For what it's worth, I wasn't the one constantly making those commons you have accused me of saying- I have never defended 'the guy to the hilt'.

You still tried to mock me for being a fan of a Spurs player.
Exactly, when you finally realized the people slagging him off were actually right.

If he never plays for our club again i wont be sorry. Gives the ball away more than any player i can recall. No real pace, dribbles into blind alleys totally ineffective. i wish he were to be a success with us but i dont think its too likely unfortunately.

I've never seen a player regress as badly as Lamela. He looked green, and understandably out of place when we first signed him, but the lad had real ability, and looked to have almost world class potential. Now.....if he came through the academy you'd say he'll never make it. The most damming thing I can say is that Townsend actually looks better than him on the right, and Townsend is fucking terrible.

Just stop being a lemming and blindly supporting every crap player we buy.
Nobody blames you for buying them.
I don't 'blindly' support all of our players. I say when they've played badly, I do the same when they play well, I support them at all times.

Lamela put in another 'OK' performance today. Not utter shite, like Fazio, not particularly good either. He's putting in too many of these performances lately, but he still should be in the first XI for me due to his work rate.

Soldado shows glimpses of brilliance with his movement and vision; the finishing will come if he can just get a run of games scoring goals. Unfortunately unless Kane gets injured, he isn't going to get that game time.

Lamela on the other hand has shown pretty much nothing, barring a ridiculous goal that he probably should have hit in a more orthodox manner anyway. There's very few positives to cling to apart from his work rate.

Sell up and move on I say, he's starting to cost the team.

Mason and Lamela have both been utterly useless in some games, good in others. Both are similar age and have barely any experience in PL overall. One is slated and pretty much written off to be no success, the other a new contract is celebrated and he is going to get better and better. Is it because of what Lamela cost? Both run around like headless chickens as much as each other so it's not workrate. Because ones an English homegrown player?
People act like wannabe accountants sometimes. I've said it before, if Lamela was an academy player and this was first season people would be going crazy about him.

The difference is that's Masons job, and he's bloody good at it.

We didn't pay £30m for Lamela to close players down ...

It's the whole teams job to run and press, as that is the style that poch wants to implement. Perhaps if more players did it on a regular basis, then there might be more opportunities for our attacking players to get more involved. Perhaps if there was more intelligence in our team they might have the vision to find players on a more regular basis. There is more to the Lamela problem than meets the eye, and it's not all down to him. I have often seen Lamela get himself into goal scoring positions, only to get undone by others inability to make the right pass.

I also feel that our best passer of the killer ball is Lamela, and think that given the right position in the team can be our most potent assist player. Still what do I know, I always thought Bale would come good for us

Completely different positions and completely different expectations.

My girlfriend said Lamela looked like a fish tonight and his hair was the fin. I think this was my highlight of his performance.

But he isn't academy player on 1st season, he cost shitloads and he earns shitloads, Mason is academy product on lowish wages even on his new contract and plays his trade on role you usually mature bit later than on attacking roles on flanks. Mind you, I don't think Mason will be more than backup come next season.

So constantly giving the ball away is not costing the team? Wow.
I think you're over-exaggerating slightly. He does give the ball away more than he should but I wouldn't say he is 'constantly' doing it. And his work for the team goes some way to making up for his inability to produce with the ball but I'd rather he didn't have to 'make up' for anything.

wtf?? I have the same expectation of every player that pulls on our shirt 1st team or not. First and foremost, irrespective of financial outlay I expect players to play with desire and determination. Once you step out onto that field, every player has a duty to perform in their role. Lamela shows a determination to perform his role, and that is a determination he never had at Roma and was often slated for his lack of work rate and tracking back in his role with them. That is one aspect he has improved on. The boy is trying!

Yeah, I'm not an apologist of Lamela, but you've clearly got that completely arse-about-face there.
