There was ITK saying that's exactly what we did with Gio.

Perhaps, but lets not get our knickers in a twist here. Giovani was a different kettle because he came to Spurs with ego. He had a few loans and a few opportunities to really show Harry something.

Lamela came with a 30m price tag, he's 21 and the manager has said repeatedly that he likes him and has him in his plans. It's been 6 months since Lamela signed for us, not the 3 years like Gio where it became apparent he'd never truly integrate.

I've still got the Lamela (computer) wallpaper in use that I think Chrisivad posted on here, I hope it's not jinxed like the match thread banners.

Oh I know...just pointing out that it allegedly happened before.

Personally I think it's far more likely that we're treating him with kid gloves. He's our record signing, and I'm sure none of our medical staff, or Tim for that matter, want to have the awkward conversation with Levy that they've just crocked our most expensive player by being impatient.

Lamela isn't commanding a starting place, so right now he's not exactly missed. No huge rush to get him back into the team...even if I do feel that he'll be an important player for us in the future.

But if we hadn't of fucked it up so much we could have a genuinely class player in our XI as opposed to Aaron anonymous Lennon. If we don't get top 4, Lamela's mismanagement will be a factor in my eyes. We have way too many average Joe's currently in our regular XI to be worthy of a top 4 place.

Niggle in his back as well? This sounds ominous and not straightforward. Could it be Lamela being awkward?
Is it me or does 'thigh/back niggle' seem like things that medical teams across the country can't fix? Can't see why Lamela would want to do anything but play, mind.

I've been thinking about whether there's more than meets the eye with his injury. I remember Wenger alluding to Bale using growth hormone or similar when he was out for a period of time. I wonder if his absence is related to attempt to build is strength up for the PL in anyway.

Haha this is ridiculous, they're niggles and Sherwood, our manager, can't get any more detail than that. That's Dr Nick standard.

I think we've already decided to sell him in the summer and theres a payment clause after a certain amount of games!

Edit: I joke, but i worry....

He's played in nine league games, six Europa League games and two cup games. I suppose it's possible there was a clause for some of the overall transfer fee to be paid after ten league appearances, but that seems a bit strange as surely we'd expect him to play ten league games when we bought him.

Either that or as it's a back twinge it could be very difficult to fully diagnose/put a time on. That's not necessarily Dr Nick standard, it's managing expectation. You're not going to say "yes Tim, it'll be a month" if you're still trying to find the problem.

So he's had a thigh injury that they can't put a time on, a groin injury that they can't put a time on, and now a back injury that they can't put a time on? Not impossible of course, but dubious at the very least.

You have to laugh at all the conspiracy theories going around.:ROFLMAO:

Not that I believe Lamela isn't injured, but it's hardly surprising that some people think there's a possibility that the club aren't being truthful about things.

AVB wasn't exactly honest about the availability of Adebayor. The guy apparently had a new injury every week, which we now know to have been complete bullshit.

I guess some fans just have to be miserable all the time hence all the rumours, guesswork, speculation and gossip that they preach.

Well let's all hope we have something to be cheerful about come Sunday evening. It's the sort of result that could really lift the spirits.

Can't agree. Lamela hasn't taken his chance when played. You can't carry a player for half a year. He has to dominate and work his butt off when used as a sub to gain a starting place. Unfortunately he's been injured to do that

I'm choosing to believe this theory.:D
